EAC Network, a leading not-for-profit social service agency dedicated to helping over 79,000 people through 100 impactful programs across Long Island and NYC, is looking for a dedicated part time Kitchen Aide to join the Point Lookout Senior Community Service Center (SCSC).
Salary: $19.21
Schedule: 20 hours per week, 9AM-1PM Monday-Friday
Location: Port Lookout NY
Reports to: Center Manager
What drives the core purpose of this job:
The Kitchen Aide is responsible for the preparation and serving of food and maintenance of the kitchen, and equipment and dining areas of the Point Lookout Senior Community Service Center (SCSC).
What are the key responsibilities:
- Receive prepared food, check delivery temperatures and store food in the refrigerator until serving.
- Record daily food temperatures upon delivery and at serving to ensure compliance with Nassau County Office for the Aging regulations.
- Prepare food for serving following guidelines for heating and serving temperatures and portion control and serve as per Nassau County Department of Health food safety regulations
- Heat food to mandated serving temperatures and maintain appropriate cold food temperatures.
- Adhere to all sanitary procedures and safety measures, including the wearing of hairnets, hats, plastic gloves and aprons.
- Clean kitchen and dining area daily and ensure the cleanliness of all kitchen and serving equipment, maintain the dining area in an attractive and clean condition, remove all garbage from the kitchen area on a daily basis.
- Assist with maintaining an inventory of supplies.
- Notify Center Manager of problems with equipment or any issues that requires the attention of the building/landlord.
What key knowledge, skills, and abilities are required to excel in this role:
- Certification of Food Service Managers Training from Nassau County Department of Health, or able to pass test upon hire
- Minimum of one-year prior food service experience required.
- Ability to communicate with and understand the nutritional needs of older adults.
- Able to lift and carry kitchen pans, trays, food containers up to 25 lbs.as required by the job.
- Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as Microsoft Office applications, calendar and other emails/and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments
