What are the responsibilities and job description for the Immigration Attorney position at Eagan Immigration PLLC?
The Reviewing Attorney reviews, edits and approves legal cases prior to filing with the government agencies and provides leadership internally for the case preparation team. Through creative and collaborative processes, our attorneys aim to help our clients gain legal status in the US, leveraging past experience, legal knowledge and research, and strong communication skills.
Eagan Immigration is a US-based law firm dedicated to helping our clients explore their immigration options, create a plan for their case and obtain the immigration benefit for which they qualify. We care about our clients and their families, and aim to support them at each stage of their immigration journey.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews and edits (including grammar) all legal aspects of a case including but not limited to: all documentation and legal analysis, researches complicated issues, supplies legal writing for cases including client documents, FBI and FOIA
- Employs creative and innovative legal strategies to help clients gain legal status in the US, including research and brief writing
- Researches and analyzes US case law
- Supports monthly training for the Case Preparation Team, per the direction of the Supervising and Senior Attorneys
- Provides legal guidance and analysis to Paralegals working on cases
- Identifies common issues and problem-solves with teammates to create and implement resolutions
- Communicates with clients when a complex legal issue arises
- Monitors past cases for changes in law or understanding of the law
- Attends regular writing training with external tutor as well as any other professional development opportunities provided by the firm
- Supports marketing and social media content at direction of the Director of Marketing
- Special projects as assigned
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor degree and bar membership required; Bachelor's degree required
- 2 years of immigration law experience, particularly with experience in VAWA, T-Visas, U-Visas, Adjustment of Status, waivers, and other related casework
- Excellent communication skills, customer service and organizational skills
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Strong preference for bilingual in Spanish and English
- Strong preference for candidate located in the DMV (Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia) market
- Ability to travel occasionally for USCIS interviews and court appearances
- Willingness to adhere to the company values of compassion, innovation, communication and commitment
- For this virtual position, we will provide a laptop with access to the necessary systems, but in order to best operate these systems, you will need reliable access to internet speed of at least 10-50MB
- Some flexibility in hours may be required
