General Description:
The Chief Financial Officer has primary responsibility for the Bank’s fiscal planning, operating results utilizing generally accepted accounting principles, such as cost accounting, budgets, forecasting and negotiations. The position assists in attaining established Bank and department financial goals.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
· Counsels senior management on fiscal control and profitability.
· Prepares, presents and interprets financial reports to senior management
· Adheres to tax laws and regulatory compliance to properly reflect the financial position of the Bank and regulatory agency and government reports ensuring the safeguard of Bank assets.
· Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as, all applicable state and federal banking regulations, including BSA/AML.
· Prepares annual budget projections based on input from executives; reviews expenditures to ensure compliance with budgets; and notifies appropriate executive(s) in the event expenditures exceed budgets.
· Perform risk management by analyzing the organization’s liabilities and investments.
· Decide on investment strategies by considering cash and liquidity risks.
· Control and evaluate the organization’s fundraising plans and capital structure.
· Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organization’s operations.
· Positive interaction and responses to regulatory and auditing entities.
· Prepare reliable current forecasting reports, balancing and reconciling reports.
· Manage, lead and supervise Accounting, Internal Audit and BSA Operations Directs accounting department activities providing leadership, training and supervision within these departments.
· Emphasis on cross-functionality and proficiency in the Accounting Department.
· Manages multiple projects across diverse departments within the Bank.
· Provide quality service to internal/external customers maintaining constructive working relationships to achieve desired results.
· Completing all assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner.
· Assumes responsibility for special projects; gathers data and prepares reports for the Board of Directors and other members of Senior Management, audits and other personnel.
· Advanced experience and knowledge of general accounting, payroll, budgeting, and related accounting and record keeping systems in a financial institution
Qualifications, Skills and Education:
- BA in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field; MBA is a plus.
- CPA is a strong advantage.
· Prior experience as CFO, finance officer or equivalent role.
· In-depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices.
· Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.
· Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite and varied financial management software.
· Ability to strategize and solve problems while managing job duties accurately and in a timely manner.
· Strong leadership and organizational skills.
· Excellent communication and people skills.
· Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
· Exceptional math skills; ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs
- Outstanding dexterity and aptitude in verbal, writing, and organizational functions.
