The Director of Finance directs, administers, and coordinates the activities of financial management, capital planning, payroll, accounting & financial reporting, budgeting & financial planning, debt management, treasury & investment management, grants, procurement, risk management, and internal services in support of Core Transit policies, goals, and objectives as established by the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.
The Finance Director is responsible for ensuring complete and accurate transparency in all financial operations and reporting and ensuring compliance with federal, state and local laws related to finance. This includes the preparation and presentation of detailed financial statements in monthly public board meetings, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to accountability and the responsible management of taxpayer dollars. By upholding the highest standards of accuracy and openness, the Finance Director will play a key role in fostering public trust and ensuring financial decisions align with the best interests of the community.

Salary : The hiring range for this position is expected to be around $135,000 - $165,000, while the full pay grade range extends up to $179,800. Final offer and placement within the range will be commensurate with experience.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Currently the position manages and directs the work of a financial / payroll coordinator. Additionally, their leadership expands across the organization through guiding other departments on financial best practices. All leaders at Core Transit are expected to focus on quality improvement, manage and resolve conflict, foster a culture of accountability, clearly define responsibilities and expectations, set goals, provide motivation and performance feedback, recognize contributions and encourage training and development.
BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibility for budgeting and budget management, working with the Executive Director, Deputy Director, and the Board. Serves as Treasurer for Core Transit and is responsible for the custody of the funds and all stocks, bonds, and other securities owned by Core Transit in accordance with local, state, and federal law.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accounting & Financial Managment : Oversees daily financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, as well as managing revenues, investments, debt, procurement, and grants to ensure efficient and compliant financial management.
- Financial reporting : Prepares and coordinates accurate financial statements, ensuring full compliance with government regulations and standards.
- Budget Managment : Oversee and manage the development of the organizational budget, ensuring it aligns with strategic goals, includes adequate contingency reserves, and provides clear summaries of financial trends to guide decision-making.
- Tax compliance : Oversees regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance.
- Financial Analysis : Conducts financial analysis to support decision-making, identifying trends, and providing insights into financial performance.
- Accounting Policies & Internal Controls : Develops and maintains organizational financial policies and and procedures and ensures compliance.
- Communication : Communicates financial information and insights to leadership, departments and government officials, to support transparency and accountability.
- External auditors : Coordinates the activities of external auditors. Oversee the annual independent audit of all funds including facilitation of the process and correction of any audit findings.
- Accounting operations : Assesses details of financial transactions and ensuring that financial processes are efficient and compliant with regulations.
- Long-range financial planning : Actively participates in decision-making processes, financial strategy, growth opportunities, and optimizing the organizations financial performance.
- Serve as Treasurer for Core Transit responsible for the custody of the funds and all stocks, bonds, and other securities owned by Core Transit in accordance with local, state, and federal law.
- Supervise all employees and / or contractors performing accounting and finance related functions.
- Attend, participate and speak in Board of Directors Meetings and Staff Meetings as scheduled and assists with preparation of monthly Board Meeting agenda packets.
- Performs other duties and assumes other areas of responsibility as directed by the Executive Director.
