ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Adhere to the policies and procedures of Eagle Village and State of Michigan.
- Maintain communication with Day Treatment Staff to ensure program quality.
- Assist with, maintain and update all required writings and procedures regarding Michigan Licensing, ACCT certifications and continue a reasonable knowledge and professionalism of the field of Wilderness and Experiential Programing.
- Maintain certifications in all relevant areas of needed programming : lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid, Wilderness First Responder.
- Provide therapeutic experiential and recreational programming and group interventions for program participants. Provide documentation / reports to Therapists and Program Manager as requested.
- Provide periodic individualized therapeutic interventions for youth.
- Facilitate programming at Family Legacy Weekends, and serve as lead facilitator for experience.
- Provide athletic and physical conditioning events for participants 4-7 (four to seven) times per week.
- Maintain and assist with equipment inventories and ordering for all experiential programs with the Camp Coordinator.
- Assist with training and development of Eagle Village Staff in Experiential and Wilderness based programs.
- Provide therapeutic documentation of participant participation level and therapeutic impact that occurred in the activity or experience.
- Attend multidisciplinary treatment planning meetings as indicated by participant needs.
- Must be willing and able to work effectively with at risk youth, and youth impacted by trauma.
- Must be able to work under physically demanding and at times stressful conditions.
- Must be emotionally stable and have the ability to adapt to changing conditions.
- Must attend all required trainings and maintain current certification in approved behavioral management techniques.
- Must attend all team meetings for your team, as well as residential team meetings.
- Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by supervisor or administration.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS :

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor's Degree in the human service field and / or Outdoor Education or Recreation (or related field) from an accredited college or university with one year of experience in experiential work and / or leading outdoor adventure education activities, i.e., ropes / towers / challenge courses, and teambuilding activities. Good moral character. Prefer a NCTRC Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or be able to obtain certification.
LANGUAGE SKILLS :
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY :
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Understands, monitors and properly executes therapeutic hold practices.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS :
CPR, First Aid, Life Guard. Valid Michigan driver's license and good driving record.
