What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Swimming Pool Manager position at EagleVail Metropolitan District?
General Responsibilities: The EagleVail Metro District Assistant Swimming Pool Manager will work closely with the Swimming Pool Manager to oversee all safety, supervisory, administrative, maintenance, programming, communications, and leadership duties for the EagleVail Swimming Pool. Expected to work with a diverse group of people, providing excellent customer service and setting a positive example for the pool staff.
Benefits/Compensation: $24.00-$28.00/hour DOE. EagleVail Metro District also allows employees free access to all District facilities.
Essential Functions: The duties of the Assistant Swimming Pool Manager will include but not be limited to the following:
Facilities Operations
a. Assists with EagleVail Pool and Facilities.
b. Assists in overseeing and implementing all water sanitation, safety practices, administrative duties, facility maintenance, programming and communications of the EagleVail Swimming Pool.
c. Assists with preparation of the pool for season opening and activities related to closing at the end of the season.
d. Assists with the general maintenance of all pool facilities, including water chemistry, mechanical room machinery, buildings, grills, pool surfaces and deck, gates, doors, and locker rooms under the direction of the Swimming Pool Manager.
e. Daily inspects pool facilities, personnel and equipment and provides feedback to EV staff both orally and in writing as appropriate.
f. Ensures that appropriate records are kept, including pool maintenance and incident reporting. This includes maintenance records from external contractors, daily pool maintenance in house, chemical maintenance logs, opening and closing procedures, incidents and first aid.
g. Ensures that all computers and relevant programs, Wi-Fi and telephones are functioning at maximum capacity when Swimming Pool Manager is not available.
Financial Management
a. Ensures that all fee collections and recording of all receipts and end of day deposits are accurate when Swimming Pool Manager is unavailable.
b. Supervises, directs and manages pool staff, service personnel and contractors when Swimming Pool Manager is unavailable.
c. Responsible for scheduling appropriate levels of staff coverage.
d. Checks weekly Instructor/ Coach time sheets.
Stakeholder Relations
a. Works with a diverse group of people, providing excellent customer service and setting a positive example for the pool staff.
b. Sets the tone and provides the example for all staff on the importance of excellent customer service.
c. Provides and schedules in-service training for staff members.
d. Assists in overseeing content of weekly e-blast to Pool Community.
e. Assists in posting events and photos on EagleVail Swimming Pool Facebook page as well as all other marketing as needed.
f. Attends weekly staff meetings with Swimming Pool Manager.
4. Safety Protocols
a. Instructs and trains pool staff on the proper use and care of pool facilities and equipment in conjunction with the Swimming Pool Manager.
b. Directs and manages all sanitary issues of the pool and facility in conjunction with the Swimming Pool Manager.
c. Ensures that Pool Chemistry is appropriate and in accordance with contractors, manufacturers and industry standards.
d. Provides active Lifeguarding as necessary.
e. Instills attention to and enforces safety with Lifeguards and Pool Guests.
f. Manages Staff and Guest Safety throughout the entire facility, including mechanical room and chemical storage rooms (this includes and is not limited to rescue equipment, chemical spills, fire hazards.)
g. Ensures all equipment on pool deck, grounds and mechanical room are compliant with Safety Standards.
h. Assists in responding to any emergencies at the pool 24 hours per day.
5. Programming
a. Assists in developing and/or implementing aquatic programs and/or activities that are age-appropriate for all patrons, including but not limited to – Masters Swimming, Swim Team, Swim School, Swim Team Prep, Private Swim Lessons and Water Aerobics.
b. Train New Swim Instructors if qualified to do so.
c. Observe, evaluate and further develop Swim Instructors seasonally.
d. Assists in evaluating programs on a seasonal basis and upgrade or diversify as needed.
e. Assists in developing and implementing community programs, including and not limited to Camps, Parties, Shelter Rentals, Live Music and Movie Nights.
Qualifications/Skills:
The successful candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Preferably is a Certified Pool Operator. Must have a current Certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding or equivalent. Preferred Water Safety Instructor (American Red Cross) or equivalent. Must have a valid Colorado Driver’s License.
The Assistant Swimming Pool Manager works at an outdoor pool facility. She/he must deal with outdoor noises occurring from persons engaging in water sports and indoor noises occurring from pool machinery. The Assistant Swimming Pool Manager is exposed to outdoor weather conditions including sun, rain and snow as well as enclosed chemical storage areas and pool mechanical rooms. She/he must work with hazardous chemicals, not limited to Muriatic Acid and Dichlor. She/he must be physically agile and strong enough to remove and apply pool covers and lane lines, maneuver pool vacuums, lift 50lb bags of salt and work Power Washers. She/he must be able to walk, stand, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, swim and operate all pool equipment and tools.
The Assistant Swimming Pool Manager must have the ability to work independently and collaborate with all staff and patrons. She/he must be able to appropriately lead a staff of Lifeguards, Swim Coaches and Instructors, Front Desk Staff and cleaning staff to provide an experience of a lifetime both in and out of the water for the pool patrons. She/he must have the skills to apply lifesaving and first aid techniques, as well as skills to manage a 135,000 gallon Salt Water Pool. The Assistant Swimming Pool Manager must be able to ensure all pool rules and regulations are followed closely, and act swiftly and calmly to address any emergencies that may occur. In order to produce efficient records, she/he should possess a good command of the English Language, and a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
