Job Summary
The Preschool Teacher / Aide to support the lead teacher in the classroom. The Teacher / Aide will help facilitate a safe, engaging, and educational environment for young children, assisting with daily activities, classroom management, and individualized attention to students. Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher in the preparation and implementation of daily lesson plans and activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
- Supervise and interact with children during indoor and outdoor activities, helping to guide play, facilitate learning, and ensure safety.
- Support children in small groups or one-on-one during activities, offering guidance and encouragement.
- Help manage classroom routines such as snack time, naptime, and transitions between activities.
- Assist with classroom organization and maintenance, ensuring that materials and supplies are prepared for daily activities.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment that promotes social skills, creativity, and self-confidence.
- Observe children’s progress and behavior, reporting any significant observations to the lead teacher.
- Assist in classroom management, encouraging appropriate behavior and guiding children in conflict resolution.
- Help children with basic self-care tasks such as hand washing, toileting, and dressing.
- Support the lead teacher in maintaining communication with parents and caregivers, assisting in organizing and preparing materials for parent-teacher meetings or events.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as required.
- Follow safety and health protocols to maintain a safe and clean classroom environment.
Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (preferred).
- Previous experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of child development and early childhood education practices.
- Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively with both staff and parents.
- A patient, caring attitude and the ability to engage with young children.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
