POSITION: After Care Teacher Assistant - School for Early Childhood Education
LENGTH: 10-month position , Part-Time
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 60 college credit hours and prior preschool experience preferred. Knowledge of child development milestones, ability to be spontaneous. A sense of humor, patience and flexibility Exhibits a genuine nurturing, caring attitude to all students Work is routinely performed in a typical early childhood classroom, cafeteria and playground.

JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Before and/or After Care Teacher
REPORTS TO: Principal
POSITION SUMMARY: Perform the duties and essential functions required to assist the preschool teacher with instructional related tasks, including classroom activities, completion of paperwork, and supervision of preschool children.
EXAMPLE (S) of WORK PERFORMED and ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists the teacher with planning and maintaining a safe, clean, learning environment and in assures the well being of safety of children in his/her care.
- Assists the teacher to implement the developmental assessment for each child to determine the child’s strengths and areas in which each child may need help.
- Escorts students to restroom, lunch related services and other designated areas as needed.
- Attend staff meetings and parent/teacher conferences to provide and receive information.
- Presents subject matter to students, lead individual/group activities.
- Confers teachers, and administrators regarding the progress of students.
(*) When a specific assignment has additional or different ESSENTIAL FUNCTION requirements, the differences will be discussed at the time of assignment.
Required Education and Experience:
-Prior preschool experience preferred

Physical Demands (Strength)
-Exerts 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
-Exerts 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or

-Very limited or no exposure to physical risk.
