Job Type Full-timeDescription POSITION TITLE : Early Intervention Specialist - Behavior FLSA STATUS : Exempt PAY GRADE : E2 PAY RANGE : $49,81 to $66,029 per year DEPARTMENT : Early Intervention Support Services POSITION SUMMARYThe Behavior Early Intervention Specialist will create and execute individualized behavior support plans and provide behavioral support to children, families and professionals, based on observations and concern identification of children referred to through the Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) screening process.RequirementsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESWork collaboratively with the other members of the Early Intervention Department to identify and determine children's needs, and once behavior is an identified need, the Behavior Specialist will implement support plans and serve as a behavior liaison.Conduct parent / teacher interviews, complete in-classroom observations, and collect behavioral data for children referred for severe behavior concerns.Create Behavior Support Plans in partnership with parents / caregivers, and providers to address the reported and observed behavior concerns in the classroomConsult directors, teachers / support staff and families, and assist with implementation of the behavior support planCommunicate regularly with parents and center staff to determine the effectiveness of the strategiesMonitor and record Behavior Support Plan Progress. track data for outcomes and produce data as needed in various formats, including tracking expulsions.Use data collection tools to monitor student progress, analyze data and determine student's response to intervention and intervention modification.Make appropriate referrals as deemed necessary to Part B, Part C and mental health partners; collaborate with ELCHC personnel, to other community agencies, and families in coordinating referrals to meet students' behavioral needsSupport trauma informed equitable quality care practicesMaintain assigned caseload and databasePerform other related duties as requiredSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : None.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in child behavior, development, early childhood or related field required, master's degree preferred.Must hold ONE of the following in addition to a bachelor's degree : Working knowledge of Positive Behavior Supports model and Conscious DisciplineProven ability to connect with a diverse populationAbility to exemplify our core Values of Integrity, Equity, Accountability, Collaboration, Innovation, Transparency, Consistency and BenevolenceABA experience and / or early developmental intervention experience preferredBilingual English / Spanish preferredSuccessful completion of the level 2 background screening standards as set forth in s. 435.04, F.S.Valid Florida Driver's License and the ability to drive a passenger vehicleMinimum 5 years of experience working with young children displaying extreme behaviors or diagnosed with Autism and children who have experienced trauma, classroom-based experience preferredMust be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) with ability to communicate effectively to parents, childcare personnel, and community.Knowledge of attitudinal and environmental barriers to inclusion and how to assist individuals, childcare programs and other entities to overcome them.Ability to collaborate and coordinate with other community agencies and organizations to maximize efforts and avoid duplicate servicesKnowledge of DSM 5 preferredPhysical Demands / Work EnvironmentWork Environment : This job operates in the field as well as an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers / fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently interacts with staff, providers and parents via telephone and email.Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit for prolonged periods, at a desk, utilizing a computer and reviewing online and paper documents. The employee will also be required to lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
