Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated paraprofessional to work one-on-one with a student with autism in our program. This temporary position offers approximately 30 hours per week and will support the student in their academic, social, and emotional development. The paraprofessional will collaborate closely with teachers and staff to implement individualized learning strategies and ensure the student’s success.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to the student throughout the school day, both in classroom activities and during transitions.
- Implement learning activities and interventions as outlined in the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
- Assist with social skills development, communication strategies, and behavioral support.
- Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to create an inclusive, engaging environment.
- Monitor and document the student’s progress and communicate updates to the teaching team.
- Provide assistance with self-care tasks, if needed.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children with autism or special needs, particularly in an educational setting, is preferred.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students with diverse needs.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the student and classroom environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in education or a related field preferred.
