We focus all hiring efforts in a few states and within driving distance of an office location to enable in-person collaboration when and where possible. Priority hiring locations are Scottsdale, AZ, Illinois, NY tri-state metro area (New Jersey, New York and Connecticut) and San Francisco, CA. On exception we will hire in secondary locations such as District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia. We are not actively recruiting in Colorado, Rhode Island or Washington.

Overall Purpose

The Vice President, Communications serves as an integral member of the Marketing executive team and will drive the development of Early Warning's internal and external communication strategy, team and approach. This position will develop a world-class communications plan directly managing communications activities that promote, enhance, and protect the organization's brand reputation. The role will provide critical communications support for the entire organization.

Essential Functions

  • Oversees all aspects of Early Warning's Corporate, Crisis, and Internal Communications programs-
    • Develops comprehensive strategy and approach for a proactive executive communications program to optimize Early Warning's reputation and manage reputation risks, inclusive of consumer, customer and government audiences.
    • Anticipate, prepare for, and prevent issues from emerging in media coverage.
    • Strategically turn crisis situations for the benefit of the organization whenever possible.
    • Establish appropriate response team, collaborate with Security and Legal teams, train spokespersons.
    • Establish notification and response systems, craft messages for all critical stakeholders.
    • Evaluate response effectiveness, post-crisis and post-campaign.
  • Manages Reputation Management across all channels - media, online, social, podcast, conferences; develops new campaigns, strategic content and thought leadership pieces.
  • Provides effective leadership and energy to develop a highly engaged, high performance team.
  • Provides strategic counsel, leadership and vision for the Early Warning Brand to achieve business objectives and help enhance the brand image.
  • Works with executive leaders, supporting their ongoing and strategic communication needs including but not limited to supporting the design, development, delivery and management of internal and external communications and talking points.
  • Develops, integrates, and implements a broad range of public relations activities relative to the strategic direction and positioning of the organization and its leadership. Creates playbooks and briefing documents for leadership and partners to amplify key messages.
  • Directs and works with various internal teams to develop and implement plans against key business initiatives, product innovation and campaigns.
  • Collaborates with marketing, product, and sales teams to ensure consistency and deliver successful communication programs garnering media coverage in broadcast, print and online outlets.
  • Directs and manages public relations agencies to ensure agencies are true strategic partners and all plans are executed on strategy and on budget. Manages partners and vendors to achieve best-in-class outcomes.
  • Supports the company's commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education and experience typically obtained through completion of a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Communications, Organizational Development or Marketing.
  • 10 or more years in public relations, corporate communications and marketing or related field.
  • Proven leadership skills in managing an experienced and diverse team. Proven leadership skills in consensus-building among diverse stakeholders.
  • Reputation Management experience.
  • Strategic, proactive and forward-looking approach.
  • Proven track record in corporate communications in a technology-driven organization.
  • Innovative and creative thinker, with a track record for translating strategic thinking into actionable and measurable plans.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective relationships and trust throughout all levels of the organization and with all stakeholders.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Background and drug screen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience representing organizations in national media interviews, policy meetings, webinars, conferences and podcasts and executing high profile corporate events.
  • Experience training senior executives for national media interviews, policy meetings, webinars, conferences and podcasts.
  • Experience crafting compelling corporate narratives.
  • Track record of success, including activating stakeholders and influencing narratives.
  • Experience working for either a start-up or high-growth organization is a plus.

Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.

The pay scale for this position in NY in USD per year is:
a minimum of $280,000
a maximum of $300,000
