JOB SUMMARY: The Controller will provide technical accounting expertise, improvements to financial processes, and development of our accounting team. Responsible for financial planning and analysis, financial and management reporting, treasury and cash management and business budgeting support. We are looking for a hands-on manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include researching, documenting, and achieving GAAP compliance.
This role will manage the entire financial statement close process as well as leading the accounting operations functions of customer invoicing and vendor management. This individual will have a focus on developing scalable processes by identifying areas of opportunity for improvement and automation. This role will be highly visible within the organization and will work alongside every department in the company. Serves as a trusted business advisor to executive management and business leadership. Drives and manages change and continuous improvement in profit, processes, systems, and people.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Own the financial statement close and preparation process, developing best in class operations to support future audit requirements.
- Maintain complete and accurate accounting records including General Ledger, Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement reporting.
- Lead the budgeting process.
- Manage monthly accounting processes, reporting, and analysis.
- Conduct and understand complex accounting projects and transactions and provide timely and accurate financial information to executive team.
- Support the reorganization of the financial function by developing and executing centralized SOPs, establishing consistency of systems and tools, implementing automation to maximize productivity.
- Advanced knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Develop, implement and maintain financial controls, policies and workflows in compliance with GAAP.
- Ensure financial information is fairly presented in accordance with GAAP.
- Lead the support of internal and external audit activities.
- Manage all internal and external financial related reporting requirements including bank and investor compliance reporting.
- Participate in and document project/business case reviews.
- Act as a strategic partner across the organization, delivering meaningful insight and financial decision support.
- Own all aspects of the accounting operation functions relating to customer invoicing and vendor management.
- Manage Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, cash management and other treasury related duties. Take responsibility for overall company cash management by ensuring expenses conform to established policy and customer amounts are received per contract terms.
- Oversee all tax compliance and regulatory reporting requirements with the help of our external service providers.
- Train, mentor, challenge, and develop the accounting team; build-out scalable processes for company growth.

Lead process improvement projects and understand robotics and automation tools to drive efficiencies
Ability to work at a detailed level understanding nuances of processes, transactions, financials, and systems as well as strategic thinking. - Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, leadership, project, and change management skills are required.
- Train, mentor, challenge, and develop the accounting team; build-out the team as the company grows.
- Identifies and drives actions to positively impact the engagement and morale of the accounting group.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree or MBA in Accounting, Finance or similar
- CPA certification preferred.
Experience
- 7 years of professional accounting experience in managerial role, ideally with a mix of public and corporate accounting
- ERP software experience.
- Strong US GAAP accounting knowledge
- Experience with General Ledger bookings and oversight of monthly close processes including balance sheet reconciliation/substantiation, journal entries, and variance analysis.
- Proven ability to interface with various partners and customers.
