East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is seeking a Lead Teacher to join our team and provide a nurturing and safe classroom environment for children in our Pre-K program in Newport, RI. at our Chafee Center. Due to the critical nature of this position to provide services to the children, EBCAP is offering a two-step sign on bonus totaling $2500 for external applicants.
The Lead Teacher will oversee daily classroom functioning and provide guidance to the Teacher Associate, Teacher Assistant, per diem Substitutes and Volunteers, utilizing Head Start Program Performance Standards, Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework, Rhode Island Child Day Care Center Regulations for Licensing and RI Early Learning and Development Standards. Our Pre-K program utilizes approaches from the Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS), The Incredible Years (IY), Classroom Behavioral Management System, and the Creative Curriculum to ensure that all children have the opportunity for a high quality, nurturing, and safe learning experience. They will plan and implement learning experiences that advance the intellectual and physical development of children and promote social competence and ensure parental involvement.
The successful individual must have excellent presentation skills, superior leadership, and management skills to effectively communicate with staff, parents, children, and staff.
The Lead Teacher must have one of the following:
- RI Department of Education (DOE) teacher certification in Early Childhood Education (ECE); or
- Bachelor's degree ECE with 3 months supervised teaching experience in an ECE setting; or
- Bachelor degree in a related field* with teaching experience in a pre-school classroom.
