Overview: East Central Regional Library has an opening for a Resource Assistant at ECRL Headquarters in Cambridge, MN. This position has a regular schedule of 20 hours per week. The hourly wage starts at $14.17/hr. Application review will begin on 1/3/2025 and will continue until filled.
Summary: The Resource Assistant is responsible for processing and recording all interlibrary loan requests and materials in the library system, maintaining appropriate records and coordinating the library’s interlibrary loan processes as well as providing support to the Resource Librarian with collection development responsibilities.
1. Searches for and requests library materials on online library catalogs, including ECRL’s ILS and MNLINK.
2. Processes borrowing interlibrary loan requests. Receives and returns requests within Minitex region using Interlibrary Loan software and ECRL’s ILS.
3. Processes lending interlibrary loan requests, including shipping and checking-in requests within Minitex region using the Interlibrary Loan software and ECRL’s ILS.
4. Maintains records of interlibrary loan activities and maintains required statistics.
5. Maintains records in ECRL’s ILS required for interlibrary loan functions.
6. Requests and processes items from libraries outside the Minitex region, managing communication, shipping and fees as applicable.
7. Communicates with ECRL staff, patrons, and other libraries regarding interlibrary loan requests, resolving problems as needed.
8. Coordinates billing and replacement for lost and damaged interlibrary loan materials.
9. Receives and records payments of lost and damaged fees accurately.
10. Maintains interlibrary loan training materials, ensuring updates are made in a timely manner and provides training and updates to public services staff when needed.
11. Runs interlibrary loan reporting and reports statistics to management.
12. Serves on Minitex working committees as needed to keep up to date and provide feedback on interlibrary loan services.
13. Under direction of the Resource Librarian, evaluates materials for potential discard and mending.
14. Manages kit and game maintenance, pursuing replacement parts from vendors as necessary.
15. Assists with the creation of inventories, labels and processing of kits and games.
16. Under direction of the Resource Librarian, manages missing lists, withdrawal forms, purchase alerts and other reports to assist with collection development.

Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required, prefer 1 year of related experience.
