What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Professor Art + Design:Media + Comm position at East Central University?
POSITION:
The Department of Art Design: Media Communication in the College of Liberal Arts and
Social Sciences at East Central University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in Art,
beginning in August 2025.
DUTIES:
Successful candidates will possess proficiency in more than one area of art and design. Priority will
be given to candidates who possess expertise in Painting, Digital and Electronic Art, Art History, and/or
Graphic Design. Other areas of interest include but are not limited to Figure Drawing, Drawing, 2D Design, 3D
Design, Sculpture, and/or Art Theory.
In addition to teaching, successful candidates will advise students and engage in service to the department,
college, university, and community. Successful candidates will be responsible for maintenance and upkeep of
assigned art and media studio areas. Successful candidates may be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep
of the ECU Pogue Art Gallery and 12th Street Gallery as well as installation and de-installation of rotating
exhibitions in the galleries.
QUALIFICATIONS:
MFA or Ph.D. in Art or related field, preferred.
