Position Summary
The Director of Information Technology will lead development and execution of strategic initiatives that enhance the
university’s technological infrastructure, cybersecurity, data governance, and digital transformation efforts. This role
is critical in ensuring that all IT operations align with the needs of faculty, staff, and students while maintaining
compliance with state and federal regulations.
Essential Job Duties
• Provide vision, leadership, and oversight for the university’s information technology strategy.
• Ensure IT data security, risk management, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning processes are in
place and receive regular review for currency and adequacy.
• Develop, manage, and continually improve IT policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure security,
compliance, and operational efficiency aligning with the latest industry standards.
• Supervise IT staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and fostering supportive work
environment that encourages professional development and growth.
• Oversee IT infrastructure, network systems, telecommunications, and enterprise applications.
• Manage the university’s cybersecurity posture, ensuring protection against threats and compliance with data
security regulations.
• Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to support educational technology and digital
learning initiatives.
• Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to enhance institutional effectiveness and student learning
experiences.
• Develop and oversee the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective procurement and allocation of resources, while
following established university procurement guidelines and policies.
• Prepare and present technical, operations, and progress reports for the EVPAF.
• Ensure reliability and continuity of university IT services, including disaster recovery and business continuity
planning.
• Serve as the primary liaison between IT and university leadership, external vendors, and state agencies.
• Establish communication strategies to work with faculty, students, staff and administrators to meet their IT
needs.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, management information systems, or a related
field required.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in IT management within higher education, K-12, or a
public-sector environment required.
• Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, Active Directory, Office 365, and other cloud-based solutions preferred.
• Familiarity with Oklahoma’s higher education technology landscape and state IT regulations preferred.
Licenses/Certifications
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or ITIL certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise systems, and cloud computing.
• Demonstrated success and experience managing ERP systems, student information systems (SIS), and learning
management systems (LMS).
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop IT teams in a collaborative environment.
• Knowledge of state and federal compliance requirements, including FERPA, HIPAA, GLBA, and NIST standards.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and strategic planning skills.
• Excellence in written and verbal communication with ability to adapt messaging for diverse audiences
• Strong leadership abilities with experience managing creative teams and projects
• Proven ability to handle crisis communications and sensitive information with discretion
• Skilled in building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example
• Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community
• Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible
• Ability to communicate in a courteous manner
