Small Business Development Center, Director

This position is responsible for developing, operating, and overseeing the activities of the East County Small Business Development Center (SBDC). The East County SBDC is housed in the East County Economic Development Council (ECEDC). The East County SBDC provides assistance to small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs throughout San Diego and Imperial Counties.

This position works closely with the network of SBDC Centers to support small businesses by offering no-cost consulting and training. This position works with stakeholders and provides liaison with public and private sector business assistance organizations to support economic growth. This position provides leadership and direction, manages clients, advises clients and oversees the coordination of client services, manages resources, abides by reporting standards, and aids in the growth of the East County SBDC through fundraising and grant development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Manages and oversees all aspects of SBDC operations by:

• Hiring and managing staff and contractors to deliver services and support the functions of the East County SBDC.
• Managing client intake, assignments, and progress toward key performance indicators.
• Overseeing and coordinating marketing and social media activities.
• Developing programmatic offerings that align with the changing needs of small businesses in San Diego and Imperial Counties.
• Ensuring the timely processing of payment requests, reconciliation of expenses, and overall financial compliance with both SBDC and ECEDC policies.
• Working with SBDC Center Directors to coordinate services and training offerings.
• Overseeing the reporting of the East County SBDC's performance programmatically and financially to funders and internal and external stakeholders.
• Travel is required within the geographical region the East County SBDC serves. Periodic meetings are convened in Sacramento, and 3 to 4 out-of-state trips for annual national conferences and legislative outreach may be required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited college or university
• 3-5 years experience leading business assistance and entrepreneurship programs

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in related field from an accredited college or university
• 5 years leading business assistance and entrepreneurship programs

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
