In this key role, you'll be part of a coordinated effort between East County Rising and campaigns in East Multnomah County including, but not limited to:

- Zach Hudson for Oregon House District 49
- Ricki Ruiz for Oregon House District 50
- Portland, Gresham, Troutdale, Wood Village, Fairview City Council Slates
- Statewide Ranked Choice Voting Ballot Measure
- Gresham Simple Majority Charter Amendment
Started in 2018, our mission is to engage, energize, and elevate East Multnomah County by transforming governments to better represent East County’s diverse and progressive community. As part of the Rising Together campaign, you will work in a vibrant, collaborative team dedicated to mobilizing voters and winning elections.
Position Title: Field Organizer
Job Duration: Temporary, seasonal position through November 5, 2024
Compensation: Compensation at $23.00/hour, paid twice monthly
Hours: Flexible, Available daily 10 am to 8 pm. Up to 36 hours of work per week available through November 5, 2024; evening and weekend work available
Reports To: Field Manager

FIELD ORGANIZER JOB DESCRIPTION
Field Organizers are a key part of the East County Rising Political Action Committee. During the General Election, our Field Organizers will reach out to voters door-to-door and on the phone to engage, energize, and elevate our diverse and underserved communities. The ideal candidates will be great team players and communicators who understand the importance of defending our democracy and progressive values here in East Multnomah County.
Primary Responsibilities
Please note: No experience is necessary, and we welcome first-time candidates interested in progressive campaigns! We care more about your ability to get the job done than whether you have experience. We encourage you to submit your application if this job excites you.
- Community Engagement and Voter Education: Direct voter contact door-to-door and via other methods to engage with our diverse and underserved communities.
- Communication: Learn and follow a canvassing script, addressing questions from voters during conversations and learning talking points about the Rising Together campaign with a personable attitude that will resonate with community members.
- Review: Debrief canvassing events, including reporting positive and negative interactions, documenting any problematic scenarios, and communicating with East County Rising staff regularly.
- Administration: Work with East County Rising staff to establish work schedules, manage hours worked, and fill out timesheets.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to quickly adapt to a changing campaign environment and to quickly learn about the specific needs of a community outreach operation.
- Experience working with impacted communities, such as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC) communities, youth, and low-income communities.
- Experience on the campaign trail as field staff, political staff, or similar positions, or prior experience in customer relations.
- Some writing abilities to debrief events, incidents, and work experience to a supervisor.
- Limited administrative experience, such as completing and filing necessary paperwork (such as timesheets).
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with East Multnomah County and its communities.
- Multilingual capabilities to enhance communication with diverse communities.
Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Move from house to house around East Multnomah County.
- Carry ten pounds of materials and water.
- Be passionate about progressive campaigns!
