East Greenwich Public Schools is seeking applications for a temporary Physical Therapist during the 2024-2025 school year. The approximate dates needed for this role are April 21- May 27, 2025.
Under the general supervision of the Director of Student Services, the Physical Therapist will partner and provide support to families of students with a disability so that the child can develop to their fullest potential and participate functionally within their family and community. Services provided will address the promotion of sensory motor functions through enhancement of musculoskeletal status, neurobehavioral organization, perceptual and motor development, cardiopulmonary status, and environmental adaptation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Works as member of a team, partnering with the family, to gather, organize, analyze, interpret, and accurately report on information from multiple sources to plan and administer an individualized evaluation/assessment.
Conducts ongoing assessments to monitor child’s development and functional skills, progress toward IFSP outcomes, and to determine effectiveness of individual program planning.
Refers and provides access to other community resources based on evaluation/assessment results.
Develops IFSPs that clearly outline family supports, individualized strategies, and relevant services that work toward outcome achievement in a variety of settings that can be independently followed and maintained by the families.
Maintains, in partnership with the family, consistent communication with EI team, medical, and community contacts.
Identifies and accesses resources that support IFSP outcomes and enhances natural learning opportunities.
Incorporates information and strategies from multiple disciplines to implement intervention strategies within the family’s routines, activities, and natural environments.
Coach caregivers with strategies for integration into daily routines and to better understand the students' developmental needs.
Complies with state and agency policies and procedures regarding health, safety, and well-being.
Conducts screenings, evaluations, assessment sand intervention services to address the functional developmental needs of an infant or toddler with a disability with emphasis on mobility, positioning, fine and gross motor development, and both strength and endurance, including the identification of specific motor disorder.
Creates adaptation of the environment, and selects, designs, and fabricates assistive and orthotic devices to facilitate development and promote the acquisition of functional skills.
Obtains, interprets, and integrates information appropriate to program planning to prevent, alleviate, or compensate for movement dysfunction and related functional problems.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
Desired Minimum Qualifications
Licensed by Board of Physical Therapy Rhode Island Department Rhode of Health.
CPR and first aid certifications or be willing and able to become certified through agency training.
Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy or related field. Master’s preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of work experience within a school or group setting.
Excellent interpersonal skills; effective and cooperative approach in dealing with internal and external clients.
Excellent organization and time management skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Tools & Equipment Used
The individual should be familiar with the operation of standard office equipment including, but not limit to, personal computers, and spreadsheet and word processing software.
