What are the responsibilities and job description for the Carpenter/Glass Worker/Glazier position at East Moline Glass?
East Moline Glass (EMG) is a regional leader in commercial glass façade manufacturing and installation. Located in East Moline, the business has been owned and operated by the Anderson family since 1960 and continues to experience exceptional growth. We have partnerships with many top construction-related firms and suppliers which is feeding and continuing our progress.
Objective:
We are looking to add an enthusiastic and hard-working team member to our EMG family! This position will work in the field (commercial construction jobsites) to install aluminum framing and glass. There will be daily interaction with other glaziers and especially the jobsite foreman. Other communication may be with the EMG Project Managers, as well as the General Contractor who oversees each job. Thorough training will be provided – a positive attitude and eagerness to learn are the top required assets.
Responsibilities:
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools to safely and effectively install aluminum framing, glass, prefabricated windows, brake metal details, and more
- Safely work from ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts at various heights
- Some tedious work involved such as caulking and brake metal
- Maintain a clean jobsite and an organized storage/trailer area
- Work at various jobsites within the local area; stay at each site varies from 1 day to several months
- Work as a team with other installers/glaziers to successfully complete each job; address matters or concerns with job foreman or EMG Project Manager
- Training period will involve working on our fabrication shop floor to learn the industry specific systems
- As training comes to a close, you will move to the field as part of the EMG installation crew
- Other duties as assigned
Skills/Requirements:
- Team player
- Timely/punctual
- Eagerness to follow instructions and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Positive attitude; ambitious; self-starter
Experience/Certifications:
- Experience in carpentry or construction is a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Valid driver’s license
Working Conditions:
- Both interior and exterior commercial construction jobsites; all weather conditions, possible exposure to loud noises, and construction zones
- Required to lift heavy material, climb ladders, and utilize lifts (with proper safety gear)
- Travel outside of the local area is optional after training period
