Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, education, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Computer Science 7-12 Certification
- Bilingual in Spanish Preferred
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Scratch, Python, or Java
- Strong understanding of computational thinking and its application in education
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for inspiring young learners in the field of computer science
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all students
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach computer science concepts and skills to middle school students based on Computer Science Teachers' Association (CSTA) K-12 standards, including algorithms and programming, computational thinking, data and analysis, and digital literacy.
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the school's curriculum and educational standards, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Integrate computational thinking across various subjects, demonstrating its relevance and application in real-world scenarios.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, resources, and technologies to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Foster students' curiosity and creativity by providing hands-on experiences with coding, robotics, and other computer science tools.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate computer science principles across the curriculum, promoting interdisciplinary learning and problem-solving skills.
- Provide constructive feedback and support to students, encouraging them to explore and pursue their interests in computer science.
- Stay updated on current trends and best practices in computer science education, participating in professional development opportunities and networking with other educators.
