Title: Procurement Manager 

The Procurement Manager will manage East Point Energy’s procurement process. This role will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of procurement, from sourcing and vendor selection to contract negotiation and supplier relationship management. This role requires establishing and managing relationships, strategic planning, strong negotiation skills, and a basic understanding of the energy storage industry.  

 

The position will focus on the execution and construction phase of our projects and will report directly to the VP of EPC.  Additionally, this role will support our Project Development, Business Development and Asset Management teams. The Procurement Manager will work with the EPC team to develop and implement procurement strategies accordingly, and, over time, may include direct reports to support the company’s growth. 

 

Roles & Responsibilities:  

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies and policies aligned with company objectives, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery of materials and services 
  • Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and maintain a comprehensive supplier database, considering factors such as price, quality, reliability, and sustainability 
  • Evaluate supplier proposals, negotiate contracts, and establish favorable terms and conditions to optimize value and minimize risk 
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and finance, to ensure procurement activities support project timelines and cost targets 
  • Lead the supplier selection process, including pre-qualification, request for proposal (RFP) creation, bid analysis, and supplier performance evaluation 
  • Manage supplier relationships, monitor their performance, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to drive cost savings, quality enhancements, and supply chain efficiency 
  • Conduct regular market analysis to identify emerging trends, technologies, and potential risks that could impact procurement strategies or supply chain operations 
  • Maintain a pulse on the political landscape, in close coordination with the company’s Policy & Strategy department, to ensure procurement strategies are modified as needed to de-risk projects 
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, contractors, and internal teams, to foster effective collaboration and resolve any issues that may arise 
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, as well as company policies and procedures, in all procurement activities 
  • Develop and maintain procurement metrics and reports to track performance, identify areas for improvement, and present findings to senior management 

Skills: 

  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing procurement strategies, including strategic sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiation 
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to drive cost savings without compromising safety, quality or timelines 
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management principles, including demand planning, inventory management, and logistics 
  • Proficient knowledge of battery energy storage systems and related components, such as lithium-ion batteries, inverters, power management systems, and associated technologies is ideal 
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and tools for supplier management, contract management, and data analysis (Procore, SalesForce, or other) 
  • Experience building, leading, and managing a team 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, Dynamics, etc.) 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders 
  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, engineering, or a related field. An advanced degree or professional certification in procurement or supply chain management is a plus 
  • Masters of Business Administration (MBA) or Masters in Finance/Accounting preferred  
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement or strategic sourcing, preferably within the energy storage, renewable energy, or power industry 

Travel & Time Commitment: 

  • This is a full-time, exempt salaried position. Standard office hours are from 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM EST. The demands of projects may require work outside of these times. 
  • Limited travel related to site visits, industry conferences/training, company retreats, etc. is expected
