Job Title: School Psychologist
Description of basic functions and responsibilities:
Gathers information, administers and scores individual tests; interprets test results for placement or counseling in various educational and psycho-educational programs.
Major duties and responsibilities:
MGM Screening
Gathers screening information on general school population for the MGM program
Administers individual psychological tests for MGM placements
Scores tests, completes write up of information
Interprets test results to students, teachers and counselors
Psycho-educational Evaluations
Assembles data from interviews and records
Administers and scores appropriate individual tests
Makes written evaluations of students based on test results and other data, and prepares educational plans
Consults with counselors, teachers, and parents to implement reports and written recommendations
Additional Special Education Services
Develops case reports for Admissions and Review Committee
Assists with placements, individual learning objectives, reports to parents, follow-up evaluations, and hearings on educational plans
Assists with applications and follow-up evaluations for students placed in private schools under EC 6870 and county programs
Other duties and responsibilities
Consults on designs, and assists in accumulation, analysis, reporting and dissemination of data for the district’s comprehensive Special Education plan and other program development projects, as assigned
Maintains liaison with feeder school programs and appropriate community agencies
Assists with in-service training, as assigned
Performs other duties as assigned by Psychological Services
Supervision exercised or received
Supervised by the Director of Special Services who works in consultation with the Special Programs Administrator where appropriate
Minimum qualifications
School Psychologist credential
BA degree; MA preferred
Evaluation
Annually by the Director of Special Services
