Under the direct supervision of the Senior Director of Older Adults Programs will direct the day-to-day operation of the Melrose and Patterson Older Adults programs, including fiscal management invoices submission and Purchase orders, supervision and staff development, provision of services, record keeping, and reports to East Side House and N.Y.C. Dept. for the Aging (DFTA). Specific duties include but are not limited to :

  • Assist with the supervision of staff and provide direction with administrative and practical aspects of their work and special service activities.
  • Assist with overseeing program staff through weekly supervision and periodical evaluation of staff and support staff to ensure program enhancements, development, commonalities, and uniqueness in all sites.
  • Disseminate updated information to staff regarding changes in the policies and procedures affecting rights and entitlements.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with other community agencies to meet community needs and improve service delivery.
  • Coordinate with Senior Director the selection and termination of staff.
  • In collaboration with Senior Director, conduct on-going evaluation of service delivery.
  • Assist the agency in evaluation of the program in policy development.
  • Direct and / or coordinate fund-raising activities for older adult's programs.
  • Coordinate / motivate participation in center activities and congregated lunch.
  • Adhere to contractual obligations and compliance updates dictated by multiple government and private funding sources to maintain contract integrity and performance.
  • Monthly Kitchen Inventory
  • Assist with preparation of the DFTA Program and Nutrition assessments / CAP and DOH
  • Related tasks as assigned.

  • Supervisory Responsibility

    This position supervises assigned personnel, including front line staff and / or support staff.

    Work Environment

    Corporate casual. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

    Physical Demands

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This is generally a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

    Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday. Workdays / hours subject to change based on ESH's and Cities demand to provide cooling center. Must maintain a flexible schedule.

    Travel

    Minimal travel is expected for this position.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Medical Billing / Coding two or more year of years' experience working with older adults in recreation and the coordination of events, of which at least one year must have been in a supervisory or administrative position, preferably in the field of aging.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to represent the organization in dialogues with other agencies and community meetings.
  • Excellent skills in verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community service / development.
  • Understand the Elderly Population with the ability to communicate effectively with them in a caring non-prejudice manner.
