What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Professor Nursing position at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania?
East Stroudsburg University’s Department of Nursing is looking for a Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Professor (Medical/Surgical Nursing). Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU’s proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to professional markets, careers, and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country’s largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun.
The East Stroudsburg University department of Nursing offers a four-year program of study that leads to the Bachelor of Science degree with a major in nursing. This program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and fully approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. Upon completion of the program, a graduate is eligible to take the NCLEX-RN Examination for licensure as a registered Nurse and is prepared to function as generalist in professional nursing practice.
The successful candidate will be expected to have a primary classroom and clinical teaching focus in Medical Surgical Nursing for the beginning student. Other responsibilities include advancing the mission of the department by contributing to the development of new and innovative programs in Nursing and services to the department, university, and community. Distance learning and/or off-campus teaching opportunities may be expected. Final selection will be based upon a successful interview and background check. All candidates must furnish proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. at the time of employment and must comply with clinical agency affiliation agreements health requirements.
Qualifications
- A doctoral degree is preferred; DNP and/or ABD candidates may be considered. A Master’s in nursing is required.
- At least 2 years of teaching and 5-10 years of clinical experience in nursing.
- PA registered nurse license and malpractice insurance also required.
- Candidate must demonstrate potential for research productivity in the form of peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
- Demonstrated potential for success in college teaching and contributing to academic program development at the undergraduate levels and demonstrated ability to work in partnerships with clinical settings.
