East-West is seeking a strategic and visionary Executive Vice President of Financial Services (EVPFS) to provide executive leadership and oversight of all financial activities. The EVPFS will serve on the executive leadership team, providing critical financial insights and strategic direction to drive organizational growth and maximize mission impact. Responsibilities include financial planning and analysis, budget and audit oversight, team leadership, collaboration with the development team on donation management, ensuring regulatory compliance, and safeguarding the ministry's resources. The ideal candidate will have significant non-profit financial leadership experience, a strong understanding of 501(c)(3) regulations, and a deep commitment to East-West's mission and values.

As an ambassador of faith in Christ and rooted in biblical principles, the Executive Vice President of Financial Services will actively minister to East-West leadership, staff, partners, and the community in a manner that exhibits Christ's character through personal and corporate spiritual disciplines.

LOCATION: East-West offices in Plano, Texas

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Strategic Financial Leadership and Analysis

    • Serve as the principal financial strategist and subject matter expert at East-West, providing executive-level financial analysis and reporting.

    • Lead the analysis, interpretation, and communication of complex financial data and forecasts to key stakeholders, including the ELT, the Board of Directors, and various ministry departments. This includes providing strategic insights and recommendations based on financial trends.

    • Conduct in-depth analysis of short- and long-range economic trends, assessing their potential impact on East-West’s future growth and developing proactive strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.

    • Lead the preparation and presentation of comprehensive financial reports for Board of Directors and Finance Committee meetings, providing strategic context and recommendations.

  • Executive Oversight of Financial Operations, Planning, and Donations

    • Provide executive oversight and strategic direction to the accounting function, guiding the Accounting Manager in optimizing systems, processes, and service delivery. This includes setting strategic priorities and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

    • Provide executive oversight and strategic direction to the donor relations function, guiding direct reports in enhancing systems, processes, and donor engagement strategies.

    • Provide executive leadership for the fiscal year-end close, annual financial statement audit, and Form 990 process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion.

    • Lead the strategic planning and annual budget process, collaborating with the ELT to develop financial plans that support the ministry's strategic objectives. This includes challenging assumptions, identifying opportunities for efficiency, and ensuring responsible resource allocation.

    • Provide executive oversight of fund management, including investments and endowments, ensuring adherence to investment policies and maximizing returns while managing risk.

    • Maintain a high level of expertise in nonprofit accounting trends and best practices, proactively informing staff and leadership of significant issues and opportunities.

    • Oversee and maintain the master financial services calendar, ensuring effective coordination and timely completion of key financial activities.

  • Executive Leadership and Management of Financial Services

    • Provide executive leadership and mentorship to direct reports, fostering a culture of spiritual growth, professional development, and high performance.

    • Provide executive leadership to the Financial Services department, setting strategic direction, fostering collaboration, and empowering staff to take on increasing levels of responsibility.

    • Champion continuous process improvement within the Financial Services department, focusing on simplicity, service excellence, and responsible stewardship.

    • Cultivate a culture of exceptional customer service and quality within the Financial Services department, ensuring that all constituents receive timely, accurate, and professional support.

  • Strategic Project Leadership and Collaboration

    • Provide executive leadership and strategic guidance on a variety of ongoing and special projects for various departments, the ELT, and the Board of Directors. This includes taking ownership of key initiatives and driving them to successful completion.

    • Prioritize and manage project workload in alignment with organizational priorities, effectively balancing project demands with ongoing operational responsibilities. This includes delegating effectively and empowering team members to take ownership of project components.

  • Lead, attend, and/or contribute to East-West sponsored spiritual formation activities and perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required
  • CPA or Master’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field preferred
  • 15 years minimum of progressive experience in executive-level financial management required
  • 10 years minimum of progressive experience in the accounting and/or finance field required
  • Nonprofit finance or accounting experience or exposure required
  • Certified Public Accountant, strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated executive management/leadership of a financial services function and team
  • Uphold a close and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Demonstrate a healthy, growing spiritual life, including a servant attitude toward leadership responsibilities
  • Experience with accounting and donation software packages – Intacct, Classy, Concur, and Salesforce preferred
  • Ability to develop and execute financial strategies that align with organizational goals
  • Deep understanding of financial principles, accounting practices, and financial analysis techniques
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams, delegate effectively, and foster a positive work environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to diverse audiences
  • Ability to identify and analyze complex problems, develop effective solutions, and make sound decisions
  • Flexibility, focus, and a strong work ethic are essential
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including proficiency in evaluating and prioritizing issues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to handle sensitive situations with confidentiality, poise, and tact
  • Working knowledge of taxable income and accountable expense reimbursement plans
  • Experience with accounting and donation software packages – Intacct, Classy, Concur, and Salesforce preferred
  • High level of competency with Microsoft Excel – including complex formulas
