Job purpose statement/s
Under general supervision, provide one to one and small group intervention instruction in core content areas; work directly with students to implement differentiated instructional strategies and intervention programs that are intended to increase student learning; perform a variety of supportive tasks and follow-up activities: and do other related work as required.
Essential Job Functions:

Assist instructional personnel with the development, preparation and presentation of instructional material for students and instructional exercises for students
Assist in the conduct of lessons and classroom activities
Lead group discussions using appropriate questioning techniques; prepare for and assist with various classroom projects
Assist individuals or small groups of students with academic and social skills and the achievement of goals
Reinforce instruction in a variety of subjects; utilize creative methods and techniques for working with students within the suggested framework of the instructional personnel
Review plans with the instructional personnel to ensure correct teaching techniques are being utilized for each student
At the direction of the instructional personnel, assist in evaluating student progress in a wide variety of skills; correct student work; report progress regarding student performance and behavior
Administer placement tests, curriculum based measurement tests and informal assessment test to individual students
Observe and manage behavior of students according to approved procedures; assist in maintaining order among the students in the classroom and on school grounds; accompany students going from one location to another
Perform a variety of clerical duties, including recording information, compiling and maintain records and files, preparing reports, operating technology and assembling packets and materials for students
Establish rapport with students; help build confidence, self-esteem and responsible behavior in students through one to one and or/small group interaction
Assist in the development of specialized instructional materials
Requisition, store, distribute and maintain an inventory of educational materials, supplies and equipment
Administer routine first aid and determine the need to seek assistance for students with non-routine illness or injury

Experience: • One year of paid or volunteer experience working with students experiencing language deficiencies and remedial instruction needs Education: • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade • Training or coursework in child growth and development, special education, instructional technology, or a closely related field desirable
