What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructional Assistant position at EASTCONN Educational & Vocational Center (EVC)?
EASTCONN operates two Clinical, Developmental and Therapeutic (CDT) programs in
Northeastern Connecticut: Northeast Regional Program (NRP) in Danielson and Educational and Vocational Center (EVC) in Columbia, both serving grades K-12. These programs are designed for students who need a highly structured, supportive, therapeutic environment in order to achieve academic and behavioral success. The programs emphasize supporting students in acquiring the academic, social, emotional and behavioral skills necessary to successfully return to their local public schools or a less restrictive environment, and combine individualized instruction with a multimodal approach and high-interest materials to maximize learning. Members of our multidisciplinary team, including psychologists and Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), are also available to consult with districts to assess program or district-wide needs, with the goal of building in-district capacity to develop and support student programs in their home schools/communities.

EASTCONN is currently recruiting for full time Instructional Assistant positions at our Educational and Vocational Program located in Columbia, CT.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with with school age students with academic and behavioral issues.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Within six (6) months of appointment, must successfully complete PMT – Physical Management Techniques training and recertification annually. Training is provided by EASTCONN at no cost to you.
- Within one (1) year of appointment, must complete and maintain certification for First Aid and CPR training.
