What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian (Evening) position at Eastern Aroostook RSU 39?
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Custodian to join our Custodial team at Caribou Community School. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness and functionality of our school for our students and staff. This position is perfect for individuals who are interested in custodial work and working in the evening (3pm-11pm) when the building is generally less busy.
Preference will be given to individuals with or willing to obtain a bus driver license.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize restrooms to include all fixtures, faucets, drain pipes, mirrors, commodes, sinks, urinals, widow sills, ledges, air vents, floors and walls daily.
- Dust and clean desks and other furniture.
- Sweep or vacuum and mop hard surfaces of assigned rooms and corridors.
- Vacuum and spot clean assigned carpeted rooms and hallways daily.
- Empty and clean trash cans in all assigned areas daily.
- Clean and sanitize water fountains.
- Assist in the supervision of the physical security of the facility as required.
- Provide emergency clean up for spills and mishaps throughout the facility.
- Assist in lifting and moving heavy objects and furniture as required.
- Assist in setup facilities for programs, meetings, etc. as required.
- Communicate effectively with staff members, students, administrators and other contact persons using tact and good judgment.
- Ensure adherence to good safety standards.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
- Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
- Participate successfully in the training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment.
- Keep supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.
- Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
- Prepare all required reports and maintain all appropriate records.
- Perform other tasks as requested by the Head Custodian or Building Principal.
Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- General knowledge and experience of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment.
