POSITION SUMMARY:
The CT Regional Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs has oversight and strategic management of clinical service quality and safety, monitoring of risk and related outcomes, and management of provider code of conduct. Leads care integration, coordination and standardization between nursing, case managers, residents, medical students, providers, medical staff chair and chiefs, and community healthcare providers and organizations. Performs a community leadership role, and advocates for hospitals and networks for public health needs. Works with Network Executive Team to determine key growth areas and support similar initiatives.
Education/Certification Requirements: ​
- Must be a Connecticut-licensed, board-certified physician. ​
Experience Requirements:
- At least ten years of clinical experience and five years of progressive hospital-based management and leadership experience. ​
- Significant physician executive management training with an MMM, MHA, or MBA degree. ​
- Experience with medical staff leadership, quality/safety/peer review/risk management, IT, analytics, clinical information systems, and compliance programs. ​

- Strong English, verbal and written communication skills. ​
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: ​
- Medical staff organization and development. ​
- Care integration, coordination and standardization. ​
- Clinical liaison between providers and the organization. ​
- Management of hospital-based provider and group contractual relationships. ​
- Monitoring and managing clinical outcomes, quality, and risk. ​
- Supporting Quality/Safety and Risk departmental functions. ​
- Establishing relationships with regulatory bodies and staying current on healthcare trends. ​
- Addressing provider behaviors per bylaws and HR policies. ​
- Streamlining medical staff office activities regionally. ​
- Leading clinical strategic planning and quality/safety improvement activities. ​
- Managing Emergency and Inpatient Consult “call” agreements and Medical Directorship contracts. ​
- Participating in various committees and providing consultative services. ​
- Maximizing quality measures and reimbursement opportunities under ACO and value-based performance plans. ​
- Promoting research initiatives and educational partnerships. ​
- Mentoring medical students, residents, and new providers. ​
- Attending department meetings and ensuring compliance with bylaws. ​
- Keeping leaders apprised of quality and safety concerns. ​
- Collaborating with the Network Executive Team on growth areas and provider program development. ​
- Other duties as assigned.
