Academic Coach

Eastern Florida State College is currently seeking applications for the full-time position of Academic Coach on the Melbourne Campus in Melbourne, Florida.

The annual salary is $28,500. This position is externally funded. Successful internal candidates for external job postings should be aware that their current salary does not transfer to the new position. Salary will be as advertised in the job announcement. The Academic Coach is responsible for providing intensive and individualized data-base interventions to support the academic needs of students.

The following minimum qualifications for this position must be met before any applicant will be considered:

• Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, counseling, psychology or related field.
• Preferred: Prior experience working with targeted student population.
• Positive, friendly, cooperative, and customer service attitude.
• Excellent organizational, communication, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
• Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff.
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse student populations.
• Desire for students to succeed.
• Valid Florida Motor Vehicle Operator’s license required.
• This position will require successful fingerprinting and the candidate chosen will be required to pay (currently $37.25).This fingerprinting fee is non-refundable.

• High School Diploma or GED or transcripts or official transcripts of all collegiate work (as appropriate for the position) must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Human Resources Office prior to the first day of employment. All foreign degrees must have a course-by-course official evaluation and translation sent to the Human Resources Office directly from an evaluation company affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc.

Minimum physical qualifications:

• Ability to lift, push, pull, or move up to 40 pounds.
• Able to access, input, and retrieve information and/or data from a computer.
• Ability to sit for long periods of time.
• Works inside an office environment but may work in an outside setting periodically to support program related activities.
• May require travel between campuses and to events.
