Eastern Florida State College is currently seeking applications for the part-time position of Lab Specialist on the Cocoa Campus in Cocoa, Florida.
Salary & BenefitThe hourly rate is $15.00. This position has been approved for up to 28 hours per week. This position is externally funded. This position is eligible for regular part-time benefits (i.e. vacation, life insurance, etc.).
Position ConceptSupport the operations necessary for the welding program labs to function effectively and efficiently. Perform clerical work for lab inventory and maintenance and office management functions supporting shop development, procedures related to welding process equipment, material supplies, service orders and safety. Assist instructional staff with maintaining lab equipment, tool rooms, training aids, fuel gases, and metals.
Minimum QualificationsThe following minimum qualifications for this position must be met before any applicant will be considered:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of welding industry standards and practices required.
- Familiarity with weld shop procedures & safety awareness required.
- Good communication, writing and customer service skills,
- Valid Florida Motor Vehicle Operator’s license required.For individuals unable to obtain a driver’s license, a valid Florida ID is required. Employees and/ or volunteers unable to obtain a Florida driver’s license, will not be allowed to driver any college vehicle, golf cart or any other motorized vehicle on college property.
- This position will require successful fingerprinting and the candidate chosen will be required to pay (currently $36.00). This fingerprinting fee ($36.00) is non-refundable.

- High School Diploma or GED or transcripts or official transcripts of all collegiate work (as appropriate for the position) must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Human Resources Office prior to the first day of employment. All foreign degrees must have a course-by-course official evaluation and translation sent to the Human Resources Office directly from an evaluation company affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc.
Minimum physical qualifications:
- Ability to work in a shop and laboratory environment.
- Ability to work outside.
- Ability to work in noisy conditions; around lots of machinery.
- Ability to lift, push, pull and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to access, input and retrieve information and/or data from a computer.

Salary : $15 - $36
