Position Summary :

Eastern Illinois University is seeking candidates for a Marketing Associate – Assistant Director for Marketing and Fan Engagement for the Athletic Department. This position is responsible for providing all marketing and promotions for the men’s and women’s basketball programs along with other designated programs. This position will focus on increasing attendance and ticket sales while continually improving the overall fan experience, within the guidelines, rules and regulations of Eastern Illinois University, the Ohio Valley Conference, and the NCAA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Responsible for all men’s and women’s basketball marketing, student / community engagement and promotional efforts, as well as marketing and promoting other designated sports.
• Coordinate with communications, media production, ticketing, and event management to ensure that the fan experience is a priority at all basketball events.
• Develop and execute fully integrated marketing plans utilizing conventional, grassroots and digital marketing strategies to drive engagement and sales.
• Enhance the in-venue and fan experience for men’s and women's basketball.
• Write scripts and direct in-game timing and execution of promotions, video board features, music, public address reads and other elements during the season.
• Assist in concept-creation and execution of sport-specific sponsorship elements to create an engaging in-game atmosphere for fans and student-athletes.
• Develop innovative ways to promote our athletic teams and branding, while taking advantage of emerging technology.
• Work closely with student and campus organizations to drive student engagement and attendance.
• Coordinate and lead fan engagement brainstorming sessions to generate ideas and address issues to improve the fan experience.
• This position will also manage the student internship program and assist with the department’s digital marketing initiatives, where applicable.
• Represent the department to various internal and external groups of the University, including the design and execution of community-focused events throughout the year.

Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, or a related field and two years (24 months) of professional experience in the field of Athletics working in the advertising, promotions, public relations, communications, journalism or related field.

Preferred Qualifications :

Candidates must be organized and have the ability to prioritize time-sensitive tasks. They must have extraordinary focus on customer service and be able to work a highly variable schedule, including nights and weekends. They must be service and solution-oriented, placing program needs ahead of individual needs. Preferred candidates will have knowledge of NCAA rules.

Salary : $4,166.67-4,416.70 / monthly; final pay rate offered will be commensurate with experience.
