Elementary School Cafeteria Manager
Hours - 7:00 AM - 2:00 PM
SUMMARY OF PURPOSE
This position is responsible for the operation of the central kitchens in the elementary school and for
providing students and staff with a nutritional meal while ensuring a clean, sanitary, and safe working
environment. The main purpose of this position is to prepare and serve the required quantity of food with the
highest quality at the appropriate time. The incumbent works with other members of the Department in
meeting department goals and objectives in support of the ELANCO mission to provide a social and
educational environment for the students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Supervises and coordinates the ordering, receiving, storing and accounting for food and non-food
supplies.
2. Help to prepare and serve breakfast and lunch in the cafeteria and for special events in a timely
manner, ensuring proper quantity, according to the menu and standardized recipes and methods.
3. Ensures proper sanitation and compliance with food safety regulations and procedures.
4. Works closely with the Director in the management of the inventory of food and non-food items.
5. Adheres to production and meal schedules. Makes proper staff assignments to accomplish the tasks.
6. Plans, organizes, supervises and evaluates the work of the cafeteria staff (sub-contractor staff) in the
performance of their assigned tasks.
7. Handles the maintenance of the kitchen and storage facilities and equipment in a clean, sanitary
manner.
8. Controls the daily money collection and bank deposit reports.
9. Maintains daily records of all food served on Primero Edge Software and keeps track of free and
reduced students if appropriate.
10. Instructs and trains staff on the operation of equipment.
11. Resolves problems and addresses complaints quickly.
12. Identifies maintenance problems and channels work to the Food Service Director.
13. Maintains appropriate records of food service activities.
14. Technology skills are expected.

state and local agency officials related to the position.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
This position requires a high school diploma and 3-5 years of experience in food service operations and
vocational culinary training preferred and some knowledge of the food service industry with an
understanding of nutrition, sanitation and food safety. This position must obtain a ServSafe Certificate, and
have general knowledge of the school nutrition program.

School Code).
?? Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police

Must be confidential. Ability to use various cleaning equipment. Must be able to teach skills to others. Must
have good people and communication skills. Be able to multi-task. Possess a positive and professional
