Job Summary:
The Systems Administrator supports and maintains the daily operation of servers and the systems those servers provide. The Systems Administrator has the ability to understand complex systems, and has advanced problem determination and problem solving skills. They will work with team members in the implementation of network and system strategies.
Product Knowledge:
- Server OS: Linux, Windows
- Directory: Active Directory, MicrosoftEntra, Google
- Languages: UNIX shells, Python, Windows Powershell
- Enterprise Storage/Backup: CommVault, AWS S3, Disaster Recovery
- Cloud: AWS, Google, Microsoft
- Telecommunications: Microsoft Teams, Voice-over-IP
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operate, maintain, and optimize enterprise-level systems and infrastructure.
- Administer and support Linux-based systems, including configuration, patching, and performance tuning.
- Manage telecommunications platforms (e.g., Frafos, Uniteme, Microsoft Teams) to ensure reliable communication services.
- Implement and monitor system security measures to protect data and infrastructure.
- Use service management tools (e.g., TeamDynamix) to track incidents, requests, and resolutions.
- Perform backups, disaster recovery operations, and file restorations as needed.
- Create, update, and maintain detailed system documentation.
- Provide technical guidance, troubleshoot complex issues, and escalate when necessary.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and authentication protocols.
- Proficiency in managing Linux systems, including security hardening, updates, and package management.
- Strong understanding of network protocols and routing principles.
- Experience administering RADIUS authentication servers and Apache web servers.
- Expertise in scripting languages for automation and task efficiency.
- Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and network issues.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
- Solid project management skills, including planning, execution, and meeting deadlines.
- In-depth knowledge of authentication mechanisms, SSO, MFA, and identity management systems.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies
- Understanding of cloud platforms and hybrid environments.
- Ability to analyze logs, monitor systems, and respond to alerts
- Ability to interpret and analyze information for effective decision making.
- Attention to detail for accurately preparing and maintaining accurate records, correspondence, administer test, and coordinate information.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, and the ability to deal effectively with a variety of situations and constituents.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of three years in technical, computer-related roles with a focus on enterprise infrastructure.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A , Server , Security ) are a plus.
- Experience in a higher education environment is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands and fingers, to handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance as well as climb ladders and perform overhead work.Moderate physical work, such as carrying equipment (50 lbs) and working on ladders. Manual dexterity for working with computer components. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee must occasionally travel to meetings and conferences off campus, which may include some overnight travel.
