General Summary
The Grman lab (grman-lab.weebly.com) at Eastern Michigan University seeks candidates for a visiting faculty position. The research responsibilities for the position center on testing the context-dependency of multi-mutualistic interactions among legumes, rhizobia, and AM fungi in restored prairies. This theme can be explored by analyzing and writing up existing datasets, collaborating with undergraduate and MS students at EMU to continue ongoing lab experiments, and/or (co-)designing new lab or field experiments to be conducted in 2025.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
This NSF-funded position in the Department of Biology at Eastern Michigan University, a Primarily Undergraduate Institution (PUI), presents a unique opportunity for postdocs to explore teaching and research at an “institution of opportunity” where our highly diverse student body is learning to practice ecology while balancing many other responsibilities. Co-mentors for this position include Jonathan Bauer (Miami University in Oxford, OH) and Paul Price (Corteva Agriscience).
Minimum Qualifications:
- passionate about conducting cutting-edge research with undergraduates,
- knowledgeable about mutualisms (especially legume-rhizobia or plant-AM fungal
- proficient in R,
- able to advance data analysis and manuscript writing independent of an immediate
- willing to commute to EMU’s main campus in Ypsilanti, MI, and
- in possession of a PhD before a start date in early January 2025.
