Position Summary:
The Economics professional faculty position is a full-time faculty position that includes instruction, office hours and professional contributions to the college community to create an innovative and engaging learning environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach first-year and second-year college-level courses in Economics
- Serve as faculty lead for ECO 110 Introduction to Economics, 211 Principles of Economics I, and 222 Principles of Economics II . This includes assessing and regularly updating course syllabi and Canvas sites in all modalities, and ensuring the course maintains transferability. This also includes onboarding, training, and mentoring part-time faculty.
- Teach a diverse student body in daytime, evening, and if needed weekend classes in person; develop and teach online courses as needed.
- Syllabus writing, textbook selection, and curriculum planning and development
- Participate in program level learning assessment, which includes helping articulate learning outcomes, choosing and administering measures, collecting and submitting relevant data, evaluating student performance, and suggesting changes to improve student learning.
- Participate in program marketing, community outreach, and the development of co-curricular activities.
- Provide leadership in identifying trends and working with other faculty to develop new curriculum to address these trends; maintain transferability of courses.
- Participate in department, division, and general faculty meetings, applicable college committee activities, and other forms of college service.
- Remain current in academic or program discipline, including attending professional conferences, and maintaining licensure, certification, or continuing education requirements where appropriate.
- Participate in college professional development activities and stay current in technological or pedagogical advances that promote student learning.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Economics
- Equivalent of two (2) years of full-time successful economics teaching experience at the community college level or higher.
- Experience teaching online
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Economics
- Experience developing online and mixed mode courses
- Experience teaching in a multi-disciplinary department
