The EOU Pendleton Regional Advisor position is responsible for comprehensive academic advising, including intake and ongoing support for both first-time and transfer students. Duties involve collaborating with faculty advising mentors, developing and implementing advising processes, leading advising workshops, and providing expert guidance on advising-related inquiries.
Key responsibilities also include retention and completion support, focusing on students nearing graduation, as well as outreach to students at risk of dropping out.
Additionally, this role supports recruitment efforts of staff at the EOU office at Blue Mountain Community College, assisting with both online and onsite recruitment activities to help achieve enrollment goals. Responsibilities involve attending transfer fairs, participating in Oregon Transfer Days, conducting inquiry outreach (online and in person), and engaging in regional outreach efforts such as community college partnerships, local engagement events, and onsite office activities aimed at increasing institutional visibility and brand recognition. This includes participating in career, educational, and industry fairs, as well as targeted marketing opportunities.
The Regional Advisor also facilitates on-site office operations, including overseeing student workers/peer advisors, managing inventory, coordinating travel protocols, and ensuring smooth access for students and partners. Additionally, the role is responsible for coordinating completion advising and re-enrollment efforts, working closely with the Director and advising team to support students nearing graduation or those who have dropped out.

Responsibilities

- Collaborate with OPM to engage with admitted students via phone, text, email, and in-person meetings to move them from admitted to registered status.
- Work with students to develop and maintain a holistic academic plan aligned with their goals, track progress, and utilize online resources for support.
- Identify students who have dropped out for one (1) to two (2) terms and collaborate with EOU offices to address barriers and support re-enrollment and degree completion.
- Serve as an expert advisor for specific academic programs and mentor students on accelerated options (APEL, ASL, CLEP, Course challenges), providing guidance on procedures and documentation.
- Use Slate/Banner/FAST/Degree Works for data entry and maintaining student records.
- Provide backup support to other academic advising staff as needed.
- Review students within 45 credits of degree completion to identify obstacles and refer to relevant offices for support.
- Identify students who have been out for over two (2) terms and collaborate with EOU offices to develop re-enrollment solutions.
- Staff the EOU office at Blue Mountain Community College and assist with student recruitment efforts in the region.
- Build relationships with community college faculty, staff, and administration to promote EOU, recruit students, and strengthen connections with the community college.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Two (2) years working with adults in settings related to adult education, in areas of higher education, adult education, student services or student personnel, counseling or social work, or educational administration.
- Required skills include problem-solving and critical thinking; strong written, verbal, and interpersonal ability; research and team skills; organizational and presentation skills; multi-tasking ability; and ability to prioritize work in alignment with the position’s focus. Knowledge of basic budgeting.
- Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background check. Having a criminal history is not an automatic bar to employment.
- In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. Eastern Oregon University will not sponsor applicants for employment visas.
- Masters degree in Adult Education, Student Services, Counseling, Educational Administration.
- Bilingual experience preferred.
