Position Details

Job Summary
The Office of the Provost and the Office of Global Student Services invite applications to fill an International Student Specialist position at Eastern Washington University. This position reports to the Executive Director of Global Student Services.

Under the oversight of the Executive Director of Global Student Services, this position will assist with the development of dual degree articulation agreements with international partner institutions and the coordination of international students’ academic programs. The specialist will work in collaborating with academic departments, international partners, and administrative offices to create, implement and maintain dual degree programs. In addition, this position will advise students while helping them identify academic and engagement opportunities that meet their personal and academic objectives. This position also processes related forms, communicates with students, assists in problem resolution throughout the duration of their time at EWU and assists students preparing to return home. This position will support and work with faculty to advise students with registration issues. This position carries out ARO (Alternate Responsible Officer) SEVIS-related compliance issues for the international students in the dual degrees and any other exchange programs. This position may also assume additional administrative responsibilities as assigned, in a multifunction office for international student outreach and support.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative and caring faculty and staff committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to excellence in serving the community. The International Student Specialist will work in an office setting at Eastern Washington University, with the possibility of a flexible work schedule.

The salary range for this position is $45,308 (minimum) – $54,372. Conditions of Employment

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in International Studies, Higher Education Administration, or a related field.
  • Fluent Chinese speaker with ability to read, write, listen and speak in a professional manner.
  • Higher education experience working with students.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively internally across departments and with external partners.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility, and/or diversity.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in higher education, international education, or a related area, preferably working with international students in an academic advisory capacity.
  • Experience with developing and managing dual degree or articulation agreements.
  • Student advising experience, particularly with diverse or international students.

  • Recruit direct-entry students while in China, connecting them to EWU Admissions and facilitating communication and smooth transition
