Job Summary
The department of Mathematics at Eastern Washington University, within the College of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics, is excited to invite applications for a lecturer position starting September 16, 2025, located on our Cheney campus.
Our department is a dynamic and supportive community of scholars, currently consisting of 4 faculty members in mathematics education and 21 faculty in other areas of mathematics and statistics. We offer undergraduate and graduate programs, including majors that prepare students for teaching mathematics at the K-12 level.
We are seeking broadly trained candidates who will be inspirational and effective teachers, mentors, and role models for our students. If you are passionate about fostering learning at the undergraduate level and enjoy engaging with students, we would love to hear from you.
The typical workload for this position will involve teaching three courses per quarter (45 credits per academic year). In this role, you will have the opportunity to teach undergraduate courses focused on mathematics content and methods for future K-12 teachers, as well as other mathematics courses as needed.
The expected salary upon hire is $54,403. In addition to the salary, the university offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, life and disability insurance and retirement. In addition, EWU offers fringe benefits, such as tuition waiver for employees and eligible family members, discounted EWU sports tickets, full access to our campus workout facilities at a minimum fee and free transportation through STA buses. - Master’s degree in Mathematics Education, Mathematics, or a closely related discipline, by 9/16/2025
- Mathematics teaching experience
- Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the needs including universal access of our students, faculty staff and the public
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants with experience in one or more of the following:
- Mathematics teaching at the K-12 level;
- Integrating mathematics and science;
- The use of technology to teach mathematics;
- Inquiry-based mathematics teaching;
- Mentoring or supervising student teachers;
- Mathematics teaching with preservice teachers;
Preference will be given to applicants with coursework in or employment experience with:
- Mathematics education methods;
- Upper division mathematics
