Eastern also offers program throughout the state based on the needs of the community. Eastern offers an array of bachelors and masters degrees and one applied doctorate in physical therapy. EWU offers 135 fields of study, 9 masters degrees, 12 graduate certificates, 39 graduate programs, 1 educational specialist degree, and 1 applied doctorate to more than 10,000 enrolled students.

Job Summary:
The Child Welfare Training and Advancement Program (CWTAP) within the School of Social Work (SSW) and the College of Professional Programs at Eastern Washington University has an exciting opportunity for a Program Specialist 2-Project. The CWTAP is large grant funded program with a 25 year history of successful renewal. The successful candidate for this position will be highly organized, personable, and a dedicated team player.The Program Specialist 2-Project, under the general direction of the CWTAP Director will provide administrative support to the Director and the Faculty Field Instructors/Lecturers (FFI's) who are stationed off-site at University Center Everett and practicum sites located at the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) Child Welfare Program offices. This position will share time between the Cheney campus and designated Spokane DCYF office(s). This position has extensive involvement with students, staff, faculty, grant partners and the public in carrying out program activities.

Required Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree AND two or more years of experience as follows:
    • Providing administrative support to a team;
    • Working with budgets;
    • Working with diverse populations;
    • Project management skills to include: effective time management, critical thinking and information gathering;
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
    • Strong customer-service skills;
    • Ability to develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships among staff, faculty, students and other members of the DCYF and CWTAP community;
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)



  • Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/ certification/registration.

Job Duties:
% of Time: 60
Responsibility / Duty: General Responsibilities:
  • Provide general administrative support to the Director and FFIs in supporting their needs within the program;
  • Create and maintain electronic documents and files, and hard copy filing systems;
  • Compose correspondence, reports, and printed materials related to the CWTAP, edit materials for content accuracy, appearance, readability and style;
  • Organize conferences, events, statewide meetings, and program-specific meetings;
  • Provide support for meetings including agenda preparation, note taking, and preparation and dissemination of confidential documents;
  • Travel to meetings, conferences, and program sites;
  • Coordinate with FFIs on syllabi, and assist in scheduling educational seminars, practicum, meetings, etc.
  • Act as confidential liaison on behalf of Director;
  • Act as liaison to staff, faculty, and administration at other agencies/institutions, including representatives of DCYF, and officials from partner organizations;
  • Respond to questions from students, DCYF staff and the general public regarding CWTAP and understand when and where to refer;
  • Represent the program at university, DCYF and public functions;
  • Communicate all problems and concerns to the CWTAP Director for appropriate action;
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

Responsibility / Duty: Student Recruitment and Admissions:
  • Working with Director develop and maintain annual recruitment plan and schedule;
  • Communicate with SSW to monitor admissions schedule and deadlines;
  • Organize and attend CWTAP information sessions and recruitment events for prospective students, maintain list of interested applicants;
  • Assist FFIs with recruitment efforts and events;
  • Develop recruitment materials designed to inform and recruit student participants;
  • Collect prospective student application materials and monitor for missing or incomplete information, work with DCYF to process background checks.
  • Schedule student panel interviews and coordinate participant agreement signing, forward collected application materials and contractual documents to Fiscal Specialist.

Responsibility / Duty: Technology Support for CWTAP:
  • Provide support to students, staff, and faculty related to the use of technology within CWTAP including Microsoft Office products, e-mail, use of Internet, EagleNet, Canvas, Navigate, IPT and potential others;
  • Update and maintain CWTAP website;
  • Update and maintain CWTAP Canvas site;
  • Maintain CWTAP shared information sources (cloud drives, etc.)

Responsibility / Duty: Fiscal Support and Backup:
  • Maintain student matriculation reports and monitor student matriculation to ensure student maintains "in good standing" status as required by program (primary);
  • Prepare quarterly registration charts for Fiscal Specialist (primary);
  • Distribute and collect Quarterly Verification Forms (QVFs) from students (primary);
  • Prepare quarterly student tuition disbursements;
  • Arrange CWTAP travel and process travel reimbursements for Director, FFIs, staff, and students;
  • Purchasing duties that include reconciliation of CWTAP "Pro Card" (credit card) monthly for any expenses incurred.

Conditions of Employment:
  • This is a 100% classified staff position funded under a grant contract. Continuation of the position is contingent on availability of contract funding. This grant has a decades-long history of successful grant renewal.
  • This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.
  • All new employees must comply with EWU immunization Policy 602-02 and provide proof of immunity or vaccination to MMR and proof they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before beginning work at EWU. Waivers for the immunization requirements are available for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs.
  • This position is covered by the Washington Federation of State Employees Collective Bargaining Agreement.
    Additionally, candidates for this position must comply with DCYF immunization requirements and safety protocols.
  • This position will share time between the Cheney campus and designated Spokane DCYF office(s).
  • This position requires travel, the successful candidate must have transportation and a valid drivers license.

Salary Information: $41,616 - $54,180
