This position performs trauma assessments out of three Easterseals MORC offices. The assessments will primarily take place out of our Flint office and occasionally out of our Center Line and Auburn Hills offices.

Job Duties

  • Conducts comprehensive assessments utilizing trauma-informed practices.
  • Has knowledge of child development, recognizing the impact of trauma on interference of child developmental milestones.
  • Administer and interpret a variety of assessments related to trauma and child development in relation to mental health, wellness, psychosocial, resiliency, coping, and speech and language needs of the individual in the context of their family environment.
  • Apply critical elements in establishing a therapeutic working alliance that focuses on the unique cultural attributes of trauma survivors and family.
  • Develops treatment recommendations for impairments in mental, psychosocial, developmental, educational, and independent functioning that specifically addresses treatment needs of the individual and family.
  • Examines the medical and psychosocial adjustment aspects of chronic illness and disability as it relates to trauma exposure.
  • Evaluates and all data and offer differential diagnoses, when applicable, to expound on social, emotional, behavioral and developmental presentations.
  • Differentiates the various psychosocial adjustment phases and unique needs of individuals impacted by trauma and develops treatment plans and referral options based on needs identified.
  • Responsible for maintaining an electronic and paper chart which includes required progress notes, clinical interpretations, recommendations and reports.
  • Participates in individual supervision and team meetings to review progress, identify barriers and develop strategies for better assisting families in reaching their goals.
  • Ensures that paperwork is maintained in accordance with funder requirements as well as Easterseals MORC policies and procedures.
  • Maintains compliance with all accreditation, organizational and professional standards.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of principles of trauma informed care and co-occurring disorders.
  • Willingness to support and assist consumers with trauma related issues.

Qualifications

  • Possess a Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Psychology; AND Have a temporary limited license as a Psychologist(TLLP) or a limited license (LLP) or (LP) from the State of Michigan Department of Consumer and Industry Services; OR
  • Possess a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Social Work; AND Have an LMSW of LLMSW from the State of Michigan Department of Consumer and Industry Services; OR
  • Possess a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling; AND Have an limited license as a professional counselor (LLPC ) or an (LPC) from the State of Michigan Department of Consumer and Industry Services;
  • Possess a valid motor vehicle operator or chauffeur's license; AND
  • Have at least one (1) year experience working with children and families in a human service setting.
