Summary: The Director of Quality Assurance performs a wide variety of duties which are broad in scope, and involve complex and significant variables. The Director manages the Quality Assurance program for the organization including preparation and coordination of outside survey entities and implementing procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. The Director oversees investigations of abuse, neglect or exploitation of participants. Director works according to standard agency policies and procedures and standard practices of the profession, exercising considerable independent judgment to supervise and direct assigned personnel and solve problems. Director works with minimum supervision, referring to supervisor unusual or unprecedented situations. Director determines own priorities and schedule, with work reviewed for soundness of judgment. Director maintains frequent contact with other agency personnel, government officials, state and federal provider groups and the public for the purpose of exchanging information, maintaining coordination and solving problems. Director of Quality Assurance serves as the corporate compliance officer for the agency.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and ensure implementation of agency-wide audit controls and procedures to monitor operational effectiveness
  • Oversees the Records Management
  • Develops and ensures implementation of organizational-wide audit, survey, and corporate compliance program.
  • Develops policies and procedures that provide standards for internal surveys, audits and investigations of abuse, neglect and exploitation.
  • Interprets and implements quality assurance standards.
  • Monitors unusual occurrences, incident reports; report follow-up procedures and reports monthly year-to-date comparisons
  • Keeps abreast of current regulations and informs the Chief Operating Officer of any new and/or revised regulations imposed.
  • Serves as a resource to executive and management staff regarding interpretation of standards, regulations and best practices.
  • Compiles statistical data and writes reports summarizing quality assurance findings for executive staff and the board of directors
  • Assists departments with the coordination of audit information and recommends appropriate data-gathering mechanisms and procedures
  • Performs internal compliance investigations and audits throughout the agency, including compiling reports with recommendations to the Chief Operating Officer.
  • Provides ongoing advice and resources to management for compliance issues and process monitoring and improvement and work with management to implement these improvements.
  • Implements and maintains a system of management reporting that provides timely and relevant information on all aspects of audit and compliance issues to management.
  • Exercises due diligence in concert with management to prevent/detect misconduct and wrongdoing.
  • Reviews complaints, concerns or questions relative to compliance issues

Qualifications:

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3-5 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred
  • At least 2 years’ experience in supervision required.
  • Working knowledge of CARF, Indiana 460 Regulations, ICF/ID Regulations and FSSA Regulations preferred
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office software
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work alone and in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks, valid drivers’ license, safe driving record, proof of insurance and a reliable motor vehicle
