About being a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst at Easterseals Redwood:

- Directs positive behavioral support programing for adults and children through functional assessment of behaviors and creation and implementation of behavior support plans.
- Keeps abreast of and is responsive to regional and national behavior support program trends.
- Recommends program changes or innovations to meet existing, new, and/or emerging needs.
- Provides systematic application of techniques and methods to influence or change a client’s behavior in a desired way;
- Assists the recipient to learn new behaviors that are directly related to existing challenging behaviors or functionally equivalent replacement behaviors for identified challenging behaviors
- Performs a functional assessment behavior to include: An analysis of the potential communicative intent of the behavior; the history of reinforcement for the behavior; critical variables that precede the behavior; effects of different situations on the behavior; and a hypothesis regarding the motivation, purpose and factors which maintain the behavior;
- Develops behavioral support plans to be implemented by staff in all relevant environments and activities; be revised as necessary; define the techniques and procedures used; be designed to equip the recipient to communicate his or her needs and to participate in age-appropriate activities; include the hierarchy of behavior interventions ranging from the least to the most restrictive; reflect the use of positive approaches; and prohibit the use of prone or supine restraint, corporal punishment, seclusion, verbal abuse, and any procedure which denies private communication, requisite sleep, shelter, bedding, food, drink, or use of a bathroom facility;
- Coordinates, guides and directs implementation of behavior support plans with the staff, parents, and primary caregivers.
- Other duties as assigned.
What Easterseals Redwood needs from our Board-Certified Behavior Analyst:
- Master’s degree with formal graduate coursework in applied behavior analysis, psychology, special education, or a related field.
- Must have current Board-Certified Behavior Analyst Certification
