What are the responsibilities and job description for the Member Service Representative/Teller position at EASTEX CREDIT UNION?
Responsible for providing a variety of paying and receiving functions, including processing deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and cashiers’ checks. Balances each day's transactions and verifies cash totals. Performs specific assigned side-jobs and assists other staff with a variety of duties as required. Ensures that members are promptly and professionally served.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
1. Assumes responsibility for the efficient, effective, and accurate performance of member transaction functions.
- Represents the Credit Union in a courteous and professional manner.
- Receives share deposits in person or by mail.
- Receives loan payments in person or by mail.
- Processes cashiers’ checks and similar transactions.
- Disburses cash or check share withdrawals in person or by mail.
- Processes transfers.
- Utilizes computer data processing system to access accounts and process transactions properly.
- Balance currency, coin and checks in cash drawers using computers, calculators or adding machines throughout the day and at end of shift.
- Transfers members’ calls to appropriate department when the inquiry falls outside of duties and responsibilities.
- Verifies transactions. Monitors deposit amounts and examines documents for endorsement and negotiability. Detects and resolves discrepancies promptly.
- Orders checks and makes replacement debit or atm cards for members.
- Performs drive-up teller and night drop functions as assigned.
- Comprehends and adheres to credit union policies, procedures and compliance.
2. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective, professional business relations with members.
- Ensures that members' requests and questions are promptly resolved.
- Operates on-line teller terminal. Provides in person or by mail, such information as members may authorize concerning their account status.
- Receives changes of addresses and such other account information as needed and makes changes as appropriate.
- Ensures that all members are informed of Credit Union products and services and policies including eligibility for membership, types of available accounts, interest and dividend rates, payroll deduction options, and other related services and information.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding member information and credit union general business affairs.
- Ensures that the Credit Union's quality reputation is maintained and projected.
3. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and working relationships with area personnel and with management.
- Assists area personnel as required.
- Keeps supervisor informed of area activities and of any significant problems or concerns.
- Completes required reports and records accurately and promptly.
- Attends meetings as required.
4. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
- Cross-sells Credit Union services.
- Ensures that work area is clean, well maintained, and secure.
- Performs related clerical duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
Six months cash handling.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have computer and data entry skills.
- Must have strong verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Professional appearance, dress and attitude.
- Good communication skills.
