Responsibilities
- Installs a variety of masonry products in the construction or repair of walls, partitions, catch basins, boilers, furnaces, and kilns.
- Works with common brick, acid brick, fire brick, insulating brick, concrete block, cinder block, glazed tile, and other masonry products.
- Performs general carpentry and repair work.
- Works from engineering drawings, written specifications, sketches, oral instructions, or personal job knowledge.
- Must be able to perform all essential elements of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Examples of Physical requirements are:
- Physical strength to manually handle a wheelbarrow loaded with block, brick, or mortar on a daily basis.
- Physical strength to manually handle refractory material (brick) weighing up to 72 pounds during some installation processes.
- Stamina to endure physical exertion for up to 12-hour shifts or longer in emergency situations.
- Ability to work in cramped, confined, or elevated spaces.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to reach the work and apply strength/effort in awkward positions where little mechanical advantage can be obtained.
Qualifications
- Must have a favorable Safety record.
- Must possess the ability to work well with other team members under high physical and high stress demands.
- Must possess the ability to maintain a positive "can do" approach to very physical/labor intensive work and has a desire to develop a career in this type of environment.
- Person chosen for Brick Mason positions must be able to complete a structured training program designed to develop needed masonry/building trade skills.
- Must have the ability to read blueprints (engineering drawings/specifications) and be capable of recognizing needed corrections.
- Must have basic computer skills and work with standard Eastman desktop applications.
- Must be willing to share responsibility for managing team business within defined boundaries and guidelines.
- Must be capable of interacting with others (team members, supervision, customers) in an empowered shared leadership environment.
- Be willing to work varied schedules and extensive overtime according to business needs.
- Prior experience in masonry work and/or carpentry work is desired.
- Workkeys assessment is preferred at time of hire.
- Must have achieved Eastman’s required score levels on the WorkKeys assessments within 12 months of hire date.
