GENERAL DESCRIPTION :
The Systems Administrator's primary job function is to design, install, and maintain the School District network infrastructure hardware, software, Directory Services, and associated software. The position is responsible for network routers, switches, firewalls, server hardware, software, etc. The position develops and enacts procedures to perform problem analysis and resolution. Also, plan for and respond to service outages and other problems as necessary.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Design, configure, and administer Windows Domain services, including Active Directory, Group Policies, Terminal Services, User Profiles, and User / Group File Security.
- Maintain office productivity software to support staff, including Gmail, Google print services, Microsoft Office, and Adobe products.
- Maintain and design changes to the virtual server environment, currently VMware 8.
- Maintain server backups and a written disaster recovery plan to rapidly restore servers in the event of failure.
- Administer infrastructure applications such as DNAC, EDR, vSphere, and Performance Monitoring.
- Maintain and design network services, including DNS / DHCP, SMTP, NTP, SSH, SFTP, and Certificate Services.
- Function as a security officer, with the configuration of web content filtering, Fortigate VPN and Firewall, access control servers, and network antivirus.
- Design network infrastructure and maintenance of Cisco routers, switches, and Wireless LAN Controllers. Also, maintain a multi-vendor switching environment and make recommendations for future purchases.
- Familiar with ISCSI and FC SANS, and troubleshooting SAN performance issues.
- Install and maintain performance monitoring. Alert management with sufficient time to secure funding for infrastructure upgrade needs.
- Maintain / manage a Cloud-based multisite VOIP system. Also responsible for standard telephone services. Maintain an accurate E911 database.
- Help design and maintain physical security products that run on the district network, including video surveillance and access control.
- Recommend and help maintenance staff with infrastructure cabling.
- Administer and maintain MSSQL and its related applications.
- Maintains an email archive and assists the IT Director with email retention policies.
- Recommend server hardware, routers, and switches that meet the technology and performance needs of the District while remaining affordable.
- Clearly document infrastructure, server, and software changes. Make sure documentation is comprehensive and accessible to all members of the department.
- Administer user login accounts, including email accounts.
- Act as a mentor to Junior Staff, helping to grow their skills and capabilities. Take an active role in the technical development of staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
