Role Overview:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a critical addition to Laclede’s executive team, reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with senior leadership. This role has been created to enhance financial strategy, operational efficiency, and accountability within the organization. The CFO will play a pivotal role in driving profitability, streamlining processes, and ensuring the company’s financial health aligns with strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute financial strategies that align with Laclede’s long-term goals, particularly in operational efficiency and profitability.
- Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to create a strategic roadmap for 2025 focused on accountability and streamlined processes.
- Operational Excellence:
- Oversee financial operations, including accounting, finance, and operations, with support from the senior leadership team.
- Restructure the organizational chart within the first 90 days to establish clear accountability and enhance operational efficiency.
- Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) within the first six months to measure and hold team members accountable for performance.
- Financial Management:
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning efforts to ensure alignment with business goals.
- Address financial challenges related to operational inefficiencies and labor costs, driving solutions to mitigate repeated mistakes and improve profitability.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial reporting standards and regulations.
- Team Leadership:
- Manage a finance team of approximately 20 individuals, with ~5 direct reports and ~15 indirect reports.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and efficiency within the finance team and across departments.
- System and Process Oversight:
- Optimize the use of financial systems and tools, including Business Central ERP and ADP payroll, to enhance reporting and operational accuracy.
- Leverage cost accounting expertise to improve manufacturing and operational financial insights.
Immediate Priorities:
- First 90 Days: Restructure the organizational chart to align with strategic goals and improve accountability.
- First 6 Months: Establish KPIs to measure performance and hold team members accountable.
- 12 Months: Drive initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and profitability by streamlining processes and mitigating inefficiencies.
Qualifications:
- CPA preferred; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
- Proven experience in financial leadership roles, preferably within the manufacturing or healthcare sectors.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting, ERP systems (e.g., Business Central), and payroll systems (e.g., ADP).
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, drive accountability, and foster a culture of efficiency.
- Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Adept at navigating complex and challenging cultural environments with professionalism and resilience.
Preferred Industry Experience:
- Personal health products industry experience preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing or production industries, such as food, beverage, or chemicals, is highly desirable.
Soft Skills and Leadership Qualities:
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate and influence a dynamic and challenging cultural environment.
- Results-driven mindset with a collaborative and adaptable leadership style.
- Resilience and the ability to maintain professionalism under pressure.
Company Size and Growth Stage Experience:
- Mid-cap organization experience ($10M – $20M) is ideal.
- Candidates with experience in small-to-mid cap companies and those targeting 5% to 10% growth by end of 2025 are preferred.
- Open to candidates without a current CFO title, with potential adjustments to compensation based on qualifications.
