We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to perform all phases of mechanical maintenance throughout the plant, ensuring safe and reliable operation.
This role involves working closely with electrical maintenance and operations personnel to maximize facility efficiency and minimize downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform preventative, corrective, and emergency mechanical maintenance on all equipment.
- Conduct regular inspection rounds of pumps, couplings, and other equipment to troubleshoot and resolve malfunctions.
- Perform equipment installations as needed.
- Conduct lubrication rounds to ensure proper functionality of all machinery.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times.
Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all federal, state, and company safety regulations, including lockout/tagout (LO/TO) and confined space entry (CSE).
- Identify and correct safety and environmental hazards, reporting issues to the appropriate supervisor.
- Participate in company-provided safety training programs within the required time frame.
- Operate equipment safely, including industrial forklifts and man lifts.
Documentation & Communication
- Maintain a daily work log detailing work performed, time entry, and additional information requested by supervisors.
- Communicate effectively with the Lead Mechanic, Shift Leaders, and Superintendent regarding duties and plant operations.
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities are properly documented and reported.
Emergency & On-Call Duties
- Be available for overtime and emergency repairs as needed.
- Respond to on-call emergency repair work on a rotational schedule or as directed by the supervisor.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Associate’s degree (Preferred)
- 5 years of experience as a mechanic, preferably in a paper mill or industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Proficient in mechanical troubleshooting and repairs.
- Experience working with high voltage, low voltage, electrical systems, PLCs, hydraulics, and pneumatics (3 years required for each).
- Ability to understand and execute safety policies and comply with regulatory standards.
- Basic computer proficiency (preferred).

- Weekends as needed
