Summary
The Maintenance Technician ensures the efficiency and safety of machines and building equipment through effective maintenance and repair.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
- Perform electrical trade functions, including equipment installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Connect and rewire electrical systems according to specifications.
- Conduct system checks to verify proper functionality.
- Regularly replace, repair, and calibrate machine components.
- Inspect, test, and adjust systems and machinery to maintain operational integrity.
- Document inspections, tests, and repairs in preventive maintenance logs.
- Respond to safety and security issues related to machinery, following instructions as needed.
- Interpret blueprints, diagrams, manuals, and technical documents to plan and execute work.
- Disassemble equipment using hand and power tools.
- Assess and repair damaged parts using appropriate tools.
- Install functional and structural components as required.
- Reassemble equipment and conduct performance tests.
- Set up and integrate new machines into the wiring system.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs and maintenance observations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals.
- Capable of writing reports and routine correspondence.
- Effective communication skills with employees and customers.
Mathematical Skills:
- Basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Skills:
- Ability to follow detailed yet straightforward written and verbal instructions.
- Problem-solving skills for standardized situations with a few variables.
Computer Skills:
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Equipment Knowledge:
- Forklift, pallet jack, snow blower, plow, lawn tractor, and various power tools (e.g., saws, drills, grinders, nail guns).
- Company pick-up truck.
Certifications & Licenses:
- Forklift training certification.
- Valid driver’s license.
Work Environment
- Regular exposure to dust and sawdust.
- Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Typically loud noise levels.
Physical Demands
- Occasionally lift and move up to 60 pounds.
- Regular use of hands, with frequent standing, walking, talking, or hearing.
- Occasional sitting and reaching with hands and arms.
